i've always hated that story about the man hanging from a branch on a 
cliff face with tigers above & certain death below - & simply letting 
go to pick a strawberry - & enjoying the flavor.   it seemed 
pointless & made me angry for some reason.

but after reading your post - it made a bit of sense for the first 
time...
