Yes, I see where you're going with this (or inviting the reader to go
with it). -- It's interesting how central the term "sentient being" is
and how little it gets defined in Buddhist dictionaries/glossaries, I
think.

Who indeed! Isn't there a sense in which when one person is freed s/he
takes everyone/everything else from people right down to stones along
into freedom? (On a smaller level, can't you feel the atmosphere
change when someone with a happier/more relaxed/more accepting or
sadder/more up-tight/more complaining disposition walks into the
room?)
