Of course, only one rape is one too many. However,
many feel that, given the imperfections that our
justice system is marred with, and in general, the
imperfections that the nature of evidence per se is
marred with (anyone seen the film "Memento"?), there
is always a chance that someone may get wrongly
accused.

But a repeat offender, by all accounts, stands
infinitesimal chance of being wrongly accused twice in
a row for doing the same thing. The evidence in such
cases is totally conclusive and overwhelming.

The above logic holds water, in my opinion, in case of
a death sentence. For castration, I'd have to side
with you, and err on the side of testiclesness. So
let's say the justice system makes a mistake and chops
someone's balls off based on inconclusive evidence.
What's the damage?

The guy continues to live, functions normally, no one
in the society sees his shortcoming, but alas, he
cannot enjoy erotic apparitions. Big deal?

Another problem with my theory is that it presupposes
that all sex offenders are male, which of course is
not true.

So what do we do with female sex offenders?

Alex
