Precisely. The Buddha taught how to awake from the dream-like state as you've just described it. The important thing to underline here is that it's not only that the presumed outside objects and events are wrongly ascribed, also the presumed inner objects and events and states (i.e. sensations, feelings, perceptions, memories, and consciousness), are also wrongly imputed. The Heart Sutra talks explicitely about that -- how the five skandhas (i.e. form, that is the presumed outside world, and also the presumed inner states -- sensation, perception, memory and consciousness) are unreal, empty of themselves.
