I was going through the Toll Booth the other day on the way to driving
around aimlessly, and I only had a $5.00 bill and no change. So I drove up
to the change window and gave the elderly lady my $5. bill and she gave me 4
bills as change. I put them in my shirt pocket and went on my way but a few
minutes later when I looked at the change, she had given me four $5. bills
(or $20.) in change instead of 4 $1. bills ($4) which should have been the
correct change.
What should I have done? A) drive back South, paying the toll to get back on
the road, then get off at the correct exit and get back on going North to
pass the same Toll Booth and give the lady $17. (the difference)?
Or, B) Keep the money, thinking "At last I get some payback for all the
times the Toll Booth has been backed up endlessly" or
C) Park my car on the side of the road and chant sutras and sing Kumbaya
until I feel less guilty, and then spend the money on something that I had
told myself I would not buy because I could not afford it ($17. can buy a
lot for me); or
D) Give the money to a few homeless vagrants as they come by to beg at
various stop-lights on the road; or
E) Something else that you are going to suggest.
Please Let Me Know. I have not been able to stop thinking about it since
this afternoon when I was returning from the Pet Store.
