We don't have a lot of servers, though several are VMware ESX hosts with several VMs apiece. Nothing super high I/O. Apps include SharePoint, SQL, Exchange, domain controller, etc. etc.
Could someone(s) please comment on Splunk vs. Zenoss for server monitoring -- both hardware and software?? How difficult would it be to monitor Exchange and SQL, for example?? Two differences I know so far: 1) Splunk charges for alerts, Zenoss does not. 2) Zenoss charges for Exchange/SQL/VMware monitoring, I can't tell or know if Splunk would adequately monitor these for me.
