Indeed I did not intend irony...the poem on its own is sad no doubt, but with the context, it is very very sad...

Please don't cut or change this poem, I think it is perfect as it is...

Don't mock sentimentality, even if it does jerk a few tears. Actually it wasn't meant to be a tear-jerker, just wanted to convey a depressing situation.

Eventually this will become a haiku, when I can figure out how to cut it down and keep the grey tone.
