Hey Ronnie, I only asked if you meant it - crotch, or crutch?
Larkin is a favourite poet. His poem For Sidney Bechet is a masterpiece, and it is a pity he is almost invariably judged by They Fuck You Up. I know he was out to shock in that particular poem, but it is consistent in its anger. In your poem the vulgarity of crotch, as used, jarred because it was so inconsistent with the rest.
A bit like smacking the butterfly...
Now can we close this subject and have something else from you? Something erotic?
I think the subject of crotches can be relegated to Playboy.

Thank you for saying my influence is profound! But I rather doubt it. Anything I say comes from an inner conviction rather than education, from reading rather than tuition. And I am still filling in the gaps left by reading nothing but detective novels for 30 years.
