The other nice thing about a dip stick is that I can immediately gauge how much oil I've used since the last check and how much to add. Unless that function is imbedded in the otherwise specious electronic version it's an overcomplication like an o-Drive (oil Drive). -Kevin ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 May 2005 15:08:11 -0700 (PDT) From: Andre Yew <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: bmwuucdigest@uucdigest.com Subject: Re: e90 - new oil program Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> On Fri, 20 May 2005 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > The other nice thing about a dip stick is that I can immediately gauge how > much oil I've used since the last check and how much to add. I remember seeing people at Buttonwillow trying to top off the oil in a Porsche 996 TT. The sequence went something like this: 1. Turn car on, and go down a couple of menu levels in the car computer to oil indicator. If oil is at the right level, you're done, otherwise continue on. 2. Turn off car, open engine bay, and put in some oil. 3. Close up car, and go to 1, except you have to wait for a little bit for the oil level stabilize. They must have repeated this 3 or 4 times before they were done. It was a new car, so perhaps they didn't know what the meter calibration was. --Andre ------------------------------ End of [bmwuucdigest] digest(2 messages) **********
