The number one intake runner had a gasket and a half on it apparently from a previous R&R. Replacing the gaskets got things right back in shape. Took me almost 3 hours to change them out, but not a bad job, just lots of things to take off and put back. Many thanks to Brett and to the rest of you who helped me troubleshoot this and many other issues over the years. Regards, Paul Craven 1993 325ic - Is it running? 1999 528iT ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Dec 2005 13:47:57 -0600 From: "Paul Craven" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <bmwuucdigest@uucdigest.com> Subject: <E30> ABS Issues Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi all, My faithful 93 325ic is showing it's gratitude for my having finally fixed the [EMAIL PROTECTED] idle/CEL issues by having ABS issues. A day or two ago the ABS light started coming on occasionally after the car was moving. I assumed it was likely junk in the sender rings or maybe a bad sensor. Not a terribly urgent issue in my eyes, as the car still stopped fine. Today however, the ABS is activating nearly every time I stop. The really strange part is the light is now out. Any easy stuff to check or does the car need to be put on a scanner to read the diagnostic codes? Regards, Paul Craven 1993 325ic - maybe I am getting too old to drive a 13 year old car every day... 1999 528iT - hers ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Dec 2005 13:55:20 -0600 From: Clarence <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Paul Craven <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: bmwuucdigest@uucdigest.com Subject: Re: <E30> ABS Issues Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I had a similar problem this past spring after I installed new rotors/pads. I was blaming the problem on the pads, for various reasons that are irrelevant, but it started immediately after the brake job. The ABS would engage right at the moment the car should have made a complete stop; very scary. The light was not on. Turned out to be a bad wheel sensor. Replaced that and all is well. I would start testing there. I plan to heed Brett's advice and change the oil at least every 7.5K miles. At 18K miles, the truck has only received one 15K Oil Service, and already I've noticed a nasty brown film on the dipstick and under the oil filler cap. Thus, I'm not too eager to continue running the BMW/Castrol oil. I'm inclined to run Mobil1 0W-40, as it has BMW Longlife approval. I had excellent results using Rotella T 5W-40 Synthetic in my 528iA(130K miles and less than 1 qt used between 7.5 K changes), but I think I'll wait to use it until the truck is out of warranty. Any other suggestions or tips? Thanks in advance!
