HAR

Just as duct tape and tie wraps are the best tools (next to a "quarter and a
phonebooth") for fixing something that don't want to get fixed, a sawzall
and a BFH are the best tools for something that don't want to come apart!!

You know what they say - if it isn't moving, go get a bigger hammer! I
actually did that last night!!! :-)

Stan,

I know many folks who have used one to, um, disassemble and discard
the remains of a parted out E30. Not sure if its legal, but it works
in a pinch ;)

So, if misfire is the diagnosis, it's either fuel or spark. The main pump is
making some noise, so I'll check the line pressure. Only electrical parts I
haven't replaced are the ingition coils. I know Bavauto has some "high
performance" ones that are only a bit more that stock, and if one is
degrading the others can't be far behind. Anyone have any experience with
these BavAuto coils on M42s?

Any advice on how to best monitor the O2 sensor? test lead through the
wires? Or is there another place to pick up the signal easier?

Monitor the new O2 sensor output to see what its doing. There is a level of
misfire that can't be felt but increases emissions. I would expect the new
cat would consume the fuel and oxygen fed to it by the misfire.

I recommend the sawzall blade called "the torch" by Milwaukee (I think) for
this task. Buttahhh.

Worked great on an old 2002, down to metal recycling can size
parts. The car was called Young Frankenstein so it was kinda appropriate.
Battery operated Sawzalls have become so efficient now they're the tool
of choice for catalytic converter thieves out here in San Jose, too.
