Torque drivers are available from most of the tool companies, but you might want to try and beg one out of your local dealer's tool room on loan, as they approach $400. The first M60 shortblock I did, I turned in the tensioner by hand to see if I could gauge it right. I then got the special tool and found that I was about 4 threads off. 0.7Nm is a lot tighter than it's number implies in this application. When turning the engine, the chain needs to be correctly tensioned to get accurate measurements before final assembly. Brett Anderson KMS Ivan Demkovitch wrote: > Ok, will check TIS. Any ideas of what kind of HP and TQ with the cams? Also is Memphis a good place for valve job , porting, etc. Current 328i has about 93k miles on it and it's a manual. -Kevin ---------------------------------------------------------------- This e-mail communication is confidential and is intended only for the individual(s) or entity named above and others who have been specifically authorized to receive it. New PSS9 coilover suspension, new HID lights from Umnitza, new $250 detail in and out, Alpine head unit and Alpine glove-box iPod integration. The simple way to tell is to count the number of spokes. Genuine ALPINA wheels have 20 spokes as these do. What isn't indicated in the listing, is this a complete set of 5 wheels. Open lug ALPINA wheels from this era are staggered. The front wheels are 7"x16" et11 and typically would have 205/55/16 tires mounted. The rear wheels are 8"x16" et24 be mounted with 225/50/16 tires. A complete set would include a spare which is the same as the front wheel/tire. It has a thin blue wire and a thin green/ black wire? mine has broken into three pieces and is very corroded. also, what is the sensor just below the oil filter on the same engine? does the wire for that need to run through the channel by the water pump and up in to the harness under the manifold? replies much appreciated TIA struggling in the snow ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Jan 2007 08:19:51 -0500 From: KMS- Brett Anderson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Beth Wolchock <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, UUC Digest <bmwuucdigest@uucdigest.com> Subject: Re: 87 E30 325 purple sensor on firewall pass. side near terminal Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Stretching the memory here, but I think that firewall sensor was an add on, engine bay temp sensor that was installed during a service action. I've seen very few cars with it in place, usually it was either not installed, or removed shortly thereafter. The one by the filter is your oil pressure switch. It's not related to the starting problem you had, however, messing with it's wire may have disturbed the barrel connector below the intake that is most likely full of corrosion, and directly responsible for your staring issue. This is the ultimate Q-ship :-) If your or someone you >know wants a hot bimmer that looks like a quiet family car, let me know. >-tdc FWIW, I was considering buying this car a few years ago (Tom, I'm surprised you still have it!?) and took it for a test drive. It is perfect for the person who always wanted an E28 M5 that is not black. It is as Tom represents it in his ad. The ONLY thing that kept me from buying it was that I was having trouble finding an insurance company who would insure it as an M5 instead of an '82 528e. Otherwise it would be mine today and not for sale. :^) (Note: your ability to insure it properly will depend on you, the insurance company and how you plan to use the car. Tom told me he has had no problems insuring the car. YMMV.) Scott Miller GGC BMW CCA ------------------------------ End of [bmwuucdigest] digest(10 messages) **********
