Whatever the 'American Bulldog' might be, it is NOT a recognized breed of
the American Kennel Club...and has never been heard of in reputable
bulldog breeding circles...
There is the (English) Bulldog, and the French Bulldog. Those are the
ONLY breeds with the name 'bulldog' which are recognized by the AKC.
There is the Bull Terrier (the breed owned by General Patton), the
American Staffordshire Terrier (colloquially known as 'pit bull'), and the
Boston Terrier (commonly, but erroneously, referred to as a 'Boston
bulldog')...
