Actually, the trait that distinguishes the bulldog is a terrier trait. Once they sink
their
teeth in, they don't let go. That's the myth, at least. A young terrier or bulldog with
healthy teeth can be lifted right off the ground with teeth sunk into whatever. So if
that's
the mascot, the meaning is tenacity.
One of my grandmother's had a little boston bulldog. It was snarly and nasty and left
with me a permanent dislike of the breed. But then I don't really like animals that
don't
have noses...:))
