I can't check right now and won't be home until next weekend. When I
get back I will check and make sure.

I would think you should if the file gets saved to memory like the
jpeg files do.

Hi!

In order to install the proper driver for my D-Link ethernet card, it is
said on the d-lind website to do the following:

Select COAS from the KDE menu
Choose network, then Ethernet interfaces
Select new device and choose VIA Rhine PCI driver.

Being happy of finally find the answer to my problem (Linux was not
detecting my ethernet card...) I went in KDE. To my surprise, I did not
find COAS!! I am missing something? How can I make sure to select Via
Rhine PCI driver?

Many thanks!

yes..got the configuration disk and configured the 3com 10/100

(minix, not minux) ELKS is the Embedded Linux Kernel Subset, you should find
it no probs by doing searches (try from linux.org and such like)
AFAIK, it's actually aimed at the 8086 rather than the 80286, but it may or
may not take advantage of the extra gubbins you get in a 286...

just what kind of web page do you have in mind? I use the Xitami http daemon
to support a set of programming docs for my workgroup. It runs on 200 mhz
machine with a IDE drive without breaking a sweat. We have other machines
with servers that are even more limited. What you are talking about is way
beyond a low traffic page on a LAN.

I recently installed rh 7.1 on a laptop. Apparently it sucessfully
detected my pcmcia modem/network card (zircom cardbus 56k). However now
each time I reboot it is telling me the card has been removed but the
card is still actually in. Also I am unsure of what exactly to do to
get pcmcia working.

This is my first install on a laptop. Could someone please give me some

instructions on how or what I must do. Also I don't know if this will
help or not but when I list my loaded modules (ls mod) it is showing 2
zircom modules having been sucessfully loaded.

One thing that might be useful for RAID is striping across drives for more
space (using strip v. concatenation just to get a speed up while you're at
it).

Btw, it's not unusual to see 486s fielded for this type of workload.

COAS is something that's specific to Caldera's distro; I'm not surprised
you didn't find it. The proper thing to do is to open a konsole or
xterm, "su -", enter the root password, and then "modprobe via-rhine".
If that works (which it probably will) then you should add that modprobe
command to your /etc/init.d/boot.local (SuSE) or /etc/rc.d/rc.local
(RedHat and derived) file so that the command will be executed on system
boot and you won't have to worry about it.

I am running rh linux 7.1 I have a zip disk that a friend of mine put
some
graphic files on for me. However the zip disk was done on a zip disk
machine. What I would like to do is mount the disc on the linux box and

transfer the files to the box. However each time I attempt to mount
the file system it is telling me that it is an incorrect type.

The following command is the exact command I am entering (mount -t hfs
/dev/hdc /mnt/zip100.0) I have no problems seeing windows formatted zip

disc but I cannot get this mac zip disc mounted at all. I have even
looked in /proc/filesystems and I don't see hfs listed. However when I
looked at the man page for mount and hfs is a valid type for the -t
argument.

Can you please direct me to anyway that I can properly view the contents

of a mac formatted disc?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Subject: Montego snd worked in 6.2 but not 7.1??
Date: Mon, 28 May 2001 03:37:31 GMT

As the subject states, I have a Turtle Beach Montego 3D (Aureal Vortex I
AU8820) sound card. In the 3 years I've been playing off and on with
Linux I've never been able to get it to work.
That is until I found the driver pack au88xx.1.0.5.tar.gz from
linux.org. It installed perfectly in my RH 6.2!!

Well, I wiped and installed RH7.1. I'd have thought better support, but
when I "make install20" I get the string of info I'll paste at the end
here, and it doesn't work.

Can anyone give me any pointers here with this?

Thanks!

If you have your kernel source look in the /fs/hfs/FAQ.txt for more
info. There appears to be some further requirements for mounting other
than the -t.

the pages probably wont get too much traffic... though I will probably be
testing flash and cgi on them... I was mainly worried about ftp traffic
slowing down the web page speed or vice versa. The most I could see
happening is maybe 10 people net side and 5 people lan side ftping at once
with the page perhaps getting a few hits an hour (less than 50)... probably
usually 0.

Thanks a bunch for the help :)....

Oh yeah... here comes some extreme newbieness... if I am using an older
board that supports ata66, will a pci raid card allow the hard drives to do
ata100?

thanks again
