Thanks Jon for all your effort.  Sven, I agree that its a good idea to
look at the core1duo's now and compare.

I emailed the Omega developer a day or two ago explaining the issue
and asking for suggestions/advice and got back a very short email that
he/she does not work on Linux.  I might try emailing again asking if
we can just ask some questions but they don't seem too interested in
being helpful.

Once the open source R500 drivers get a little further it might be
possible to make some headway using them.  I'm not sure how easy it
will be to go over that code and understand it but they seem to be
looking for more people to work on the project.
