I think the most reasonable approach would be:

1. Work with current code, clean up, make distinctions between
functionalities, set program flow.

2. Make it buildable by g++.

3. If anyone is willing then C++ rewrite can take place. Code produced
by (1) should be easy to move into objects.

I am not that good in C++ as some guys here on the list, so my code
may not be the best. I know current C organization and I like C. All 3
points made in one step are too much work, while 1 seems to be the
priority at the moment. This solution seems to be least invasive to
the project and seems most desired anyway... Is that okay? :-)
