RE: [LegacyUG] runtime error 6

2007-01-26 Thread Sherry/Support
After testing Richards file, I was able to duplicate it and passed it on to
Dave for further expert troubleshooting g. He discovered the problem with
creating the CSV report and has fixed it for the next build.

Thanks for using Legacy.

I moved all .usr files to a USB drive, with none left in Legacy. After I did
Name List / Print / csv / print (it failed again) I found newly created .usr
files: Legacy, Legacy8, Legacy7, Legacy6, Legacy5, Legacy2, language,
iSearch, Grid. Custlist.usr and Custview.usr were not created and the ones
that were there previously were dated over 4 months ago.
After the failure I recopied all usr files back into Legacy.
Thanks again.

I deleted all my .usr files to see which .usr files the Print Name
 List function uses.
 These are: Custlist.usr, Custview.usr, Grid.usr, Legacy5.usr and
 Legacy7.usr.
Try to delete these files to see if that makes any difference.
You could also backup your user files and delete all te usr files to
see if it's a corrupted user file that's causing problems (After
deleting the usr files you might have to go to Options Customize and
 manually reset some options).

I deleted all the files and subdirectories from the C:\Windows\Temp folder

I tried it with smaller files and it is OK. I tried it with my main file

Delete all the files from the C:\Windows\Temp folder and delete the

There is no limit to the number of individuals you can have in the Family
File. Access does have a limit to a database size, however. We
recommend

that you don't go over 1 GB because if the file gets too big you could
start
seeing some strange errors. There are some users out there with a
larger

file size...

Unfortunately the largest file I have has just over 13,000 individuals.

I see that one of the testers recommended deleting the grid.usr file. If
that doesn't help, please contact Support directly and we'll work with
you

on it to see what's going on.

Legacy seems to have a file size limit of 16,419 Individuals.

OK my main file has 27,000 Individuals but if I go to:
Name List / Print / CSV File / Print; I get to 60% and it stops with
runtime error 6. If I then look at the Temp.CSV file just created it
contains only the first 16,419 Individuals.

If I choose to print to PDF file all 27,000 names are included in the
 file.

I suspect the programmers can easily increase this limit but if not then
perhaps the limit could be mentioned at

Re: [LegacyUG] runtime error 6

2007-01-24 Thread Richard Van Wasshnova

Hi Evert,

Thank you for confirming the bug.

I did not mean it as a serious size limit of file size but that IF you have
16,420 or more Individuals you COULD notice a problem only if you happen to
want a certain report in a certain format. I do believe I've created CSV
reports previously in earlier versions without this problem. The fact that
the runtime error shuts down Legacy could be quite upsetting if one has not
done a backup recently.

I tried deleting grid.usr twice, (a new grid.usr is automatically
created), but both times it only produced a temp.csv containing 16,417
Individuals. (I originally could get 16,419 Individuals).

that you don't go over 1 GB because if the file gets too big you could
start

seeing some strange errors. There are some users out there with a larger
file size...

Unfortunately the largest file I have has just over 13,000 individuals.

I see that one of the testers recommended deleting the grid.usr file. If
that doesn't help, please contact Support directly and we'll work with you
on it to see what's going on.

Thanks for using Legacy.

Subject: [LegacyUG] runtime error 6

Legacy seems to have a file size limit of 16,419 Individuals.

OK my main file has 27,000 Individuals but if I go to:
Name List / Print / CSV File / Print; I get to 60% and it stops with
runtime error 6. If I then look at the Temp.CSV file just created it
contains only the first 16,419 Individuals.

If I choose to print to PDF file all 27,000 names are included in the
file.

I suspect the programmers can easily increase this limit but if not then
perhaps the limit could be mentioned at
http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/Help.asp.
I thought something was wrong with my data.

2007-01-24 Thread Richard Van Wasshnova

Hi Sherry,

Deleting grid.usr did almost nothing for me. Waiting to see what comes of
Glenna's new problem. For myself I can get the report using Access2000 so it
is not a great concern to me.

There is no limit to the number of individuals you can have in the Family
File. Access does have a limit to a database size, however. We recommend
that you don't go over 1 GB because if the file gets too big you could
start

seeing some strange errors. There are some users out there with a larger

RE: [LegacyUG] runtime error 6

2007-01-24 Thread Sherry/Support
I did a little digging around Error 6 is an overflow error.

Delete all the files from the C:\Windows\Temp folder and delete the grid.usr
file again. Next run File File Maintenance Check/Repair twice. Let me
know if that helps.

Thanks for using Legacy.

There is no limit. Some users have files with more than 300.000 entries.
