Re: [MSEide-MSEgui-talk] Different behavior windows/linux, using tframecomp
Hi Martin. Thank you for your response. I was doing something wrong, now I understand how to set it properly. I had to keep in mind that a tedit default frame values are not tframecomp default ones. So I need one tframecomp for t*edit widgets and at last another one for other (non edit) components. Setting the default values from the t*edit frame widgets to the tframecomp, is working as expected. Just curious why tframecomp.frarmei.left=0 show the blinking cursor in Linux and not in Windows, probably is not very important. Cheers 2012/1/23 Martin Schreiber mse00...@gmail.com On Monday, 23. I'm trying to remove 3D effect in edit widgets and all is fine in linux, but running it in Windows the cursor is not shown when it's placed in the left side of the first character. This only happens if I use skins and tframecomp For a workaround I set tframecomp.frarmei.left to 1 (default is 0) and then the blinking cursor is shown in Windows too. t*editwidget.frame.framei_* defines the text padding, it should be at least 1 for left and right, normally top and bottom are at least 1 too. The caret position depends on the font. If the caret is not in client rect of the widget the clientrect should be shifted, I'll need to test why this does not work on Windows. [MSEide-MSEgui-talk] Using external tools
Hi Martin I would like to use a code formatter with MSEide. I've seen it can be done in Project options - Tools, but I'm not sure how to use it. One option is to use the tool ptop (included in FreePascal). It requires an input file and an output file (that can be the same). I wonder why MSEide doesn't use it by default. (almost any IDE out there have a code formatter. 2012/2/24 Sieghard s_c_...@arcor.de I know about the Jedi components, although I never used any. They definitely stem from the Windows world, and they possibly even use an emulated registry on Linux, at least your formatter seems to do so. 2012/2/26 IvankoB for-mse ivankob4m...@gmail.com What does it mean external tool ? Can it be code helper, Ctrl+Space identifier expander etc ? Project-Options-Tools It allows you to execute external programs. There are a few macros you can use. I'm my case I added a code formatter (JCF or ptop). For now it adds a new menu to main menu (Tools). Probably Martin can add new macros and the possibility of key accelerators. :) -- Julio Jiménez Borreguero -- Virtualization Cloud Management Using Capacity Planning Cloud computing makes use of virtualization - but cloud computing also focuses on allowing computing to be delivered as a service. http://www.accelacomm.com/jaw/sfnl/114/51521223/___ mseide-msegui-talk mailing list mseide-msegui-talk@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/mseide-msegui-talk

Hi. Array concept zero-based? not in objectpascal. Why the first element must be 0? You usually think first=1, second=2 first=0? I know there are lots of arguments about starting in 0 or 1 or whatever and I don't want to start a 'war' because it.. My point of view is to follow fpc/fcl direction. Cheers 2012/4/11 wahono sri wahon...@gmail.com Changed in git master e8f1d49de2fc18b898d662cd19a4b2cf3ada3a1e, thanks. BTW, I don't like the one-based FPC recno, I think it should be zero-based. What do you think? I think zero-based is OK such as array concept. -- Better than sec? Nothing is better than sec when it comes to monitoring Big Data applications. Thank you! 2012/9/6 wahono sri wahon...@gmail.com Hi Martin I updated to https://gitorious.org/mseuniverse/mseuniverse SDL convertion to MSEgui : drawinfo.paintdevice = pixmapty = SDL_Surface drawinfo.gc.handle = SDL_Renderer (software renderer for bitmap and hardware renderer for window/form) At the moment linking GUI and GDI looks some success, but I remove fsynccanvas (with -duse_singlecanvas) because every SDL_Window can create 1 SDL_Renderer only. in msesdlgdi.pas.copy area, if you activate SDL_SaveBMP_toFile(drawinfo.paintdevice,'c:\bb.bmp'); to see what is canvas content to file, I think it looks painted correctly. But all canvas does not painted to screen. Please take a little time to see what's wrong in my job. Please run testsdl.prj and switch between : {.$define testlib} //test SDL lib {$define testgui} //test MSEgui to see how independent SDL work with testlib and link to MSEgui with testgui. [MSEide-MSEgui-talk] Possible bug in tdbwidgetgrid
Hi. I have noticed a weird behavior using tdbwidgetgrid. If you click a cell, the selection is ok(the first time you do click), but then if you click on another cell in other column or in the same row, the selection shows an empty value. If the field is of type integer it shows 0 instead of the value stored in the database. If the field type is string then it shows an empty string. If you click cells in the same column, all is fine. The same happens if you use left/right arrow key to navigate in the same row of the tdbwidgetgrid. I can reproduce it in linux and windows. Yes Borland did a great job even when Delphi was full of bugs :D So, may I think you are unhappy with the direction that FPC is following or simply you think can make a better tool? You know, Pascal community is not big and dividing efforts is not probably a good idea. Probably you have your good reasons to take this decision, I still think it's probably a big work for only one developer. As Freepascal user, I'm a bit worried because actually I can share code between FPC, Lazarus and MSEide applications with very little effort and probably this will change if you take a different way. I have MSEide and Lazarus applications running in production, with very good results. With different compilers... who know what will be going on. 2013/9/19 Martin Schreiber mse00...@gmail.com I saw artefacts without fades too. For example in objectinspector there can be not painted white or garbage areas. With fades the problems are more visible it seeems. Yes, that's why I asked if you were using fades in tfilenameedit components... I got it working fine using nouveau driver too.. just had to disable thee hw acceleration. I added to xorg.conf Section Device Identifier Nouveau Driver nouveau Option NoAccel on EndSection Like for EXAPixmaps off there is a performance penalization, but this is better than nothing and the affected computers are used for work only :D So it seems the issue is related to graphics acceleration, not only EXA. Re: [MSEide-MSEgui-talk] About xrender and stretched bitmaps + EXA + Linux issues
Hi The true problem is the artifacts when using EXA acceleration. I'm not going to use VESA son I didn't want to waste time investigating why it detected and dropped the true monitor resolution and fall to 1024x768. As I said it was probably because no xorg.con supplied and this will be fixes setting the proper modeline in xorg.conf. This was a try when using nouveau.modeset=0 to avoid KMS. For some ATI cards, when you use radeon.modeset=0 it drops EXA and uses XAA and all is fine. You have MSEide working and your radeon card uses hardware acceleration. To make NOUVEAU working, you have to drop HW acceleration for the moment. If you are lucky and your nvidia card is working fine with nvidia propietary drivers.. then you can use it. From my experience some nvidia cards + propietary drivers = nightmare. The bug has been reported, only left to wait :) Thanks. -- Julio Jiménez Borreguero -- LIMITED TIME SALE - Full Year of Microsoft Training For Just $49.99! 1,500+ hours of tutorials including VisualStudio 2012, Windows 8, SharePoint 2013, SQL 2012, MVC 4, more. Re: [MSEide-MSEgui-talk] About xrender and stretched bitmaps + EXA + Linux issues
What I did in the mean time. For ATI cards. Added file /etc/modprobe.d/radeon-kms.conf content: options radeon modeset=0 Added to xorg.conf (or your xorg config file...) Device section: Option AccelMethod XAA in this way, I have MSEide working fine and have hardware acceleration. 3D performance is worse than using EXA but 2D is really fine. My perception is that it's faster using 2D than EXA. (XAA was the old and working acceleration method) Haven't tried if nouveau supports XAA I hope this helps other MSE users. Yes.. of course ;) almost everything is in a library.. but it's standard library. Abs in pascal is also in a library (System unit) is not part of the language.. like almost every thing. Re: [MSEide-MSEgui-talk] MSElang, implicit type conversions
Really ? I had the impression that it is a compiler builtin. Probably I'm wrong in the concept. Compiled by default doesn't mean is part of the language IMHO, you also can apply the same to abs in C language stdlib.h curious.. you can read http://www.freepascal.org/docs-html/rtl/system/ ...The system unit contains the standard supported functions of Free Pascal. It is the same for all platforms. Basically it is the same as the system unit provided with Borland or Turbo Pascal standard.. like standard lib in C I was only responding to your sentence: abs() does not exist in C (you can of course do a simple #define macro for that). You don't need to define abs in C, just use stdlib.h, this is what I wanted to say.. :) -- Julio Jiménez Borreguero -- Rapidly troubleshoot problems before they affect your business.
