[NTG-context] language identifier for all languages
Hi Hans, as already mentioned in a previous thread (https://mailman.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2022/106713.html), I think it might be useful to have an identifier for any language, such as in: \setuphyphenation[method=traditional] \registerhyphenationexception[*][macOS] \registerhyphenationexception[any][macOS] \registerhyphenationexception[it][macOS] \startbuffer \currentlanguage: \hyphenatedword{macOS} \stopbuffer \starttext \startTEXpage[offset=1em] \getbuffer \language[it]\getbuffer \stopTEXpage \stoptext I think this is better than having other commands to add hyphenation exceptions for all languages. [NTG-context] strange issue with hyphens
Dear list, I’m experiencing a weird issue with hyphenation: \setuphyphenation [method=traditional] \starttext \hyphenatedword{a-legibility-c} \sethyphenationfeatures [strict] \hyphenatedword{a-legibility-c} \stoptext I need the setup hyphenation commands to get underscore hyphenation. But how can I make that strict hyphenation features behave as standard hyphenation ones? I mean, that the first hyphen doesn’t get doubled and that hyphenation is also enabled after the first hyphen. I don’t know whether the strict hyphenation features are misbehaving here or I am missing something very basic here. The above works (including using macOS Helvetica as the font for cyrillic). Thank you. I have no idea why (earlier I got the typescript suggestion for my fonts management, but this uses another approach). Is it the case that the ‘family’ and ’typescript’ approaches don’t really mix? The above is a lot simpler than that what I had and it works fine. Any reason to leave these commented? And does uncommenting is plan TeX-uncommenting, so only the % goes away? Makes me wonder what ‘~’ means. > %~ tf=style:light, > %~ it=style:lightoblique, > %~ bf=style:regular, > %~ bi=style:oblique, What I try to do is to have english as the default (and fallback) language and Optima as the default font, but there may be snippets in other languages which should be typeset in a font that can handle cyrillic. Helvetica is an option. So is dejavu. I still am totally in the dark how this works and what made the earlier setup find Optima but not find Helvetica. And I’m curious why this adaptation doesn’t work: \definefallbackfamily [abc] [ss] [dejavu] [preset=range:cyrillic, %~ tf=style:light, %~ it=style:lightoblique, %~ bf=style:regular, %~ bi=style:oblique, force=yes, rscale=0.9] Anyway, I can go on, not wiser but helped further. Re: [NTG-context] Wrong hyphenation when using patterns={fr,agr}
Dears Joseph, Hans, Wolfgang, Arthur (and others), As a French user of ConTeXt (current version: 2016.07.18 16:46, generally on Windows 10, time to time on Ubuntu), I am currently working on a book in French, with Greek quotations, and some rare occurences in other non-european languages. Before version: 2016.07.18, there were conflicts in hyphenations (with '\setuplanguage[fr][patterns={fr,agr}]' command) that Hans has fixed. But some disgraceful double dots [:] used to stay at the beginning of lines. With the '\setcharacterspacing[frenchpunctuation]' command, all end that end well. I found no more hyphenation issues, nor punctuation ones, even within text defined by \definefallbackfamily setup. \setuplanguage[fr][patterns={fr,agr}] \mainlanguage[fr] \setcharacterspacing[frenchpunctuation] Le 09/08/2016 à 23:21, josephcan...@gmail.com a écrit : Dear all, Combining patterns for french and ancien greek languages, I noticed there are wrong hyphenations at quote char as shown in following MWE. Dear all, Combining patterns for french and ancien greek languages, I noticed there are wrong hyphenations at quote char as shown in following MWE. Is this expected behavior by using the patterns= key in such a way ? Using ConTeXt ver: 2016.08.08 21:28 MKIV beta fmt: 2016.8.9 int: english/English \setuplanguage[fr][patterns={fr, agr}] \mainlanguage[fr] \starttext \hyphenatedword{l'homme} \stoptext - The above prints : l’-homme If so, what is the alternative to specify hyphenation in a text containing both french and ancient greek (the minority) words. Dear ConTeXt maintainers, would it be possible that ConTeXt Standalone for the linux platform had the latest LuaTeX binaries? Besides the update, I think it is important to confirm whether English hyphenation is fixed in the latest binary. The following sample: \starttext \hyphenatedword{schematic} \stoptext outputs "sc-he-matic" with luatex-0.95.0. Indeed, the combination Amsterdam-Buitenveldert is the culprit. The solution therefore is to use (it is ConTeXt afterall) Amsterdam|-|Buitenveldert, then the word Amsterdam doesn't even needs an exception. Thanks for the help.
