Hi guys, Here's a mid-year follow-up to the node density visualization. Here's the density increase from the last time (June 3) to July 1: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/images/5/52/Philippines_node_density_increase_from_2012-06-03_to_2012-07-01.png The new Bing imagery in June has resulted in increased data in Catanduanes, Metro Naga, Antique, Dumaguete, Butuan, and Tagbilaran. The new Orbview-3 imagery on the other hand resulted in increased data in Palawan, Romblon, and Antique. But this visualization does somewhat indicate where new data is being added. It's nice to see that most parts of the Philippines have seen an increase in data. You can see the obvious effect of the new Bing imagery that was released back in February as bright rectangular areas. Nice work everyone! [OSM-talk] Redaction progress

Because continents are annoyingly not shaped like rectangles, this inevitably includes some overlap with North Africa etc. The UK is finishing off as we speak. You can monitor its current location at a site set up by Harry: http://harrywood.dev.openstreetmap.org/license-change/botprocessing.php As you'll see, the internal checks of the bot and the API occasionally throw up errors which cause a region (1 degree square) not to be fully processed. The coders working on the bot are tracking these failures down and fixing them as we go: if you'd like to help or find out more, they're in #osm-dev on IRC (irc.oftc.net). But maybe the RF was suggesting that we swap our GPS sets for shovels and all get out there to dig rectangular continents? Die bei owayo verwendete Kunstfaser taugt für sportliche Aktivitäten eher als Baumwolle, letztere wäre am OSM-Stand von Vorteil. Wobei ich auf die Qualität Fotodruck aufs T-Shirt eher nicht so optimal finde. Das wäscht sich recht fix raus und wird dann blass. Es gibt unterschiedliche Druckmöglichkeiten mit unterschiedlicher Haltbarkeit. Gibt es denn überhaupt einen Shop für OSM-Artikel? Das sieht ja so aus als ob mehrere user gleichzeitig die Küstenlinien bearbeitet haben. ja das war die Idee, und da wir dabei an dei 2000 Grenze stießen, war die nächste Idee die Linie aufzutrennen und nach den Korrekturen wieder zusammenzusetzen. Das Auftrennen (- Aufteilen) war schon der richtige Ansatz (s.u.), aber wieder Zusammenführen ist (wie schon erwähnt) falsch ! Mit JOSM gibt sowas immer Konflikte (offline Editor), heisst das, dass es mit Potlach funktioniert hätte? Benutzte eigentlich nur JOSM und kenne mich mit Potlach nicht wirklich aus. Soweit ich weiß funktioniert Potlach jedoch online, sprich jede Veränderung wird sofort auf den Server geladen. es sei denn man spricht sich vorher gut ab. daher die Auftrennung :-( Jeder ein anderes Dorf oder man teilt die Küstenlinie zu erst in mehrere Wege auf und jeder bearbeitet nur einen dieser Wege. FAZIT: - Wie hätte man es besser machen können, wenn man mehrere hoch motivierte Schülergruppen da sitzen hat, die unbedingt die Küste i.O. bringen wollen? - Wie hast Du es gemacht? Willst Du das wirklich wissen ? Leider hatte ich Eure Dateien nicht. 1. Ersteinmal habe ich die Situation studiert. 2. Durch die vielen unverbunden Punkte blieb mir nichts anderes übrig als die gesamte Insel herunterzuladen. Die einfachste Lösung wäre wahrscheinlich gewesen, alles zu löschen und neu einzuzeichnen, aber ich wollte die Arbeit der Newbies nicht vernichten und hab mir die Mühe gemacht möglichst viel zu erhalten.(Ist auch Datenbank schonender). 3. Überlappende Linien finden und geschickt aufteilen, gegebenfalls existierende Punkte einfügen, so daß ich nur Linien mit id:0 löschen mußte. 4. unverbunden Punkte in die Küstenlinie einfügen und gegebenfalls aufteilen. Zum Teil habe ich auch bei doppelten Punkte durch leichtes Verschieben beide benutzt. 5. Kurze Küstenlinien zusammenfügen mit erneuter Berücksichtigung der ID, Lücken schließen, Boundary-Relation korrigieren. 6. Validator ! * letzte überlappende Linien repariert * doppelte Punkte gefixed 7. Da ich eh schon dabei war habe ich auch die Straßen mit Validator repariert (überlappende, kreuzende, unverbundene). Ich bin an der Lösung sehr interessiert, da die Schule auf den Azoren weiterarbeiten wird ... weil sie als - wie sie sich immer noch empfinden - größte Seefahrenation vergangener Zeiten - natürlich ihre Küsten in Ordnung haben wollen. Generell sind Küstenlinien bei OSM ein heikles Thema und nicht gerade der beste Einstieg, da die Küstenlinien häufig Elemente von Relationen sind und noch wichtiger, da man mit kleinen Fehlern (nicht geschlossene Küstenlinien) viel Schaden verursacht. kleine Anleitung: 1. Aufteilen der Küstenlinien in mehrer Teile. 2. Upload (damit die einzelnen Teile auch auf dem Server sind und eine ID haben) 3. Jedem einen eigene Linie zu ordnen 4. Wenn möglich nur diese Linie herunterladen. Entweder nur einen minimale BBox auswählen oder besser noch per Objekt-ID runterladen. 5. Am besten den Editier-Modus Improve Way Accuracy (leider nur im Experten-Modus sichtbar) wählen und Küstenlinie verbessern durch Verschieben der existierenden Punkte und Einfügen von zusätzlichen. 6. lokal speichern (7. Die veränderten (modified) Objekte aktualisieren, damit Konflikte rechtzeitig erkannt werden und nicht erst nachdem die neuen Punkte hochgeladen wurden (Konflikte während des Uploads.) [Talk-in] Generic questions about mapping bus/train route
Hi all, I am an OSM mapper for about six months now thanks to my Android phone with GPS and a nice application called OsmAnd (available on Android app store). I wish to create relations for various city bus routes (and few train routes) based on my knowledge and publicly available data for Pune city. I have few questions regarding this. 1. On most of the routes the train/bus runs in both direction. Should there be only one relation for the route or two (with proper start and end station/stop)? 2. Most of the city bus stops have two platforms where people can wait, one each on both sides of the roads. Should be there two different POIs on the map for them. If yes how should they be named (since usually they are referred by same name). 3. For any city bus route in Pune I believe that the operator name will be PMPML. Can any experienced mappers from Pune confirm this? 4. When I create a relation for any route and associate it with different stops, do I need to document the list of relations somewhere on wiki (so that others can provide updates/fix them as necessary). Apart from these questions, is anyone interested in collaborating on this? I looked at one page on wiki [1] but it looks like it was one time activity. Ciao a tutti. Ho taggato un punto in un paesino, dove vi è un distributore d'acqua gestito da un ente. L'ho taggato in questo modo: name: Punto xxx amenity: drinking_water Il problema che si pone è il seguente: vi è acqua refrigerata e non naturale che è gratuita (quindi drinking water) e acqua frizzante refrigerata e non che è a pagamento (5 cent al litro), per cui ci starebbe bene anche il tag amenity: vending machine. Due tag amenity non sono ammessi, cosa mi consigliate anche per altri casi futuri? Folks, The redaction bot finally completed its run across our patch which means that you may find some Ways without tags and the odd untagged Node here and there etc. Worth looking over the maps carefully in case there are any major issues to look at. There was a problem redacting some ways within the West Coast Main Line relation so I'd steer clear of that unless unavoidable until they work out what the issue is. nefunguje jak má. instaloval jsem ho poprvé, takže chyba může být i na
mé straně, ale netuším, kde jsem jakou mohl udělat.
st_geomfromgml mi vrací chybu ERROR: invalid GML representation,
dokonce i když použiju příklad z té referenční stránky:

vypsat v osm formátu.
Trochu komplikovanější by to bylo v případě exportu cest.

díky za odpověď, bohužel mi zprávy z mailing listu obvykle chodí s
několikahodinovým zpožděním, takže se mi občas stane, že mi přijde
odpověď na něco na co jsem se ptal, ale já to mezi tím nějak vyřeším.
předpokládám, že ostatním to asi chodí normálně, protože jinak by ty
odpovědi neměly čas odeslání třeba hodinu a půl před mojí následnou
zprávou, při které mi předchozí odpověď ještě nedorazila. pak to vypadá,
že ty odpovědi vůbec nečtu :-/

Ve výměnném formátu VFR je chybně ukládána geometrie parcel a
stavebních objektů, které jsou tvořeny kružnicí (případně se kružnice
vyskytuje jako jeden z vnitřních polygonů parcely). Problém se
vyskytuje v souborech mmdd_OB_cc_UKSH.xml.
Ve výměnném formátu VFR je chybně ukládána geometrie parcel, které
obsahují vnitřní polygon, který je tvořen částí oblouku. Problém se
vyskytuje v souborech mmdd_OB_cc_UKSH.xml.
PS: jak resis, ze jsou souradnice kladne a maji byt zaporne?

Ah ok, je pensais à quelque chose de plus radical... l'analyse des logs de redaction ou des changeset, car ça permet de signaler les zones où des objets ont été supprimés. Car autant c'est assez facile de trouver les objets modifiés, c'est plus difficile de voir ce qui a été supprimé, surtout dans des zones globalement denses. Un petite rue supprimée passe inaperçue. Bonjour, Je poursuis ma petite exploration d'osm, et je m'interroge sur source=cadastre-dgi-fr source : Direction Générale des Impôts - Cadastre ; mise à jour : 2009 que je vois partout sur ma carte ( http://osm.org/go/0ApJYkNR--) et que potclatch rouspète parce qu'il y aurait deux sources selon lui, et que on m'a dit que c'était simplement à cause du ; qui trompe potlatch. De fait, si je fais une requête xapi avec un wget (oui ! je deviens capable de faire une requete xapi avec wget ! ) (cependant, impossible d'en faire une avec firefox, car il me répond : OsmosisRuntimeException: No transaction is currently active si quelqu'un pouvait me sortir de cette curiosité), j'observe que certains nodes sont de la forme suivante : tag k=source v=cadastre-dgi-fr source : Direction Générale des Impôts - Cadastre. Mise à jour : 2010/ il y a un . à la place du ;, mais comme je suis encore incapable de voir le résultat d'une requête xapi sur une carte avec potlacht, je ne sais pas si ça convient, et je n'ai vu nulle part si le ; était autorisé ou interdit dans les valeurs de tag. Imaginons toutefois que ce soit bon, et que je veuille corriger ça, et que je veuille partout remplacer le ; par un .. Quasiment un pour chaque bâtiment de France, plus d'autres sur d'autres types d'objets comme les limites administratives. On pourrait déjà commencer par corriger le problème à la source et ne plus utiliser le ; dans les exports de bâtiments du cadastre et dans le plugin JOSM. Si on veut être plus précis et affiner, il faudra utiliser JOSM et afficher le(s) cadastres en fond, ou utiliser les limites exportées sur cadastre.openstreetmap.fr, mais la modif, sur le principe, est ok. On pourrait déjà commencer par corriger le problème à la source et ne plus utiliser le ; dans les exports de bâtiments du cadastre et dans le plugin JOSM. C'est déjà le cas pour le plugin JOSM. Evidemment, ou pourrait revenir sur les anciens imports mais ça serait un énorme boulot. Surtout, je pense qu'il faudra un jour revoir le tag source=cadastre lui-même car il prend trop de place. I am trying to fix a routing problem, that I found whilst investigating an error was reported in mapdust. It is a strange one and has me totally baffled, so hoping someone here can help. A simple U-Turn around a roundabout, adds a detour along Llangollen Road, to then use Tower Hill to turn around and come back to the Roundabout. Dragging the start point around the roundabout does eventually work once you have passed the first exit. http://map.project-osrm.org/Uv Using the same finish point, but moving the start to the A483 exit slip road has another strange result. There are no obvious turn restrictions, as they are all possible, with different finish points. http://map.project-osrm.org/Uz I am assuming it is more than a problem with OSRM. I noticed there are a number of roundabouts in the area without an explicit oneway=yes, and a couple of slip roads and part of the New High Street were also missing oneway=yes. This may be a contributing factor so I fixed what I found. Don't know how long it will take OSRM to get the updates into the routing network though. Because continents are annoyingly not shaped like rectangles, this inevitably includes some overlap with North Africa etc. The UK is finishing off as we speak. You can monitor its current location at a site set up by Harry: http://harrywood.dev.openstreetmap.org/license-change/botprocessing.php As you'll see, the internal checks of the bot and the API occasionally throw up errors which cause a region (1 degree square) not to be fully processed. The coders working on the bot are tracking these failures down and fixing them as we go: if you'd like to help or find out more, they're in #osm-dev on IRC (irc.oftc.net). [Talk-GB] Lambeth council opens up
Hi All, Good news on the local council front. Lambeth council is looking to open up all (excluding confidential data) the data they hold [1]. This is fantastic news and somthing other councils should try to follow. They know that this will be a big task so are looking for people to send in requests so that they can prioritise which data gets released first. As they are an Inner London council, they are not required to hold data on public rights of way. However, a quick look on their site indicates that they already have some location data available under the free Open Government Licence [2]. Looks like a mashup map has been produced [3] and blogged about [4]. As always Import into OSM should be handled with care. In this case I would expect some/much (?) of the data to already exist in OSM and therefore we could use Lambeth's data as a tool to check if we have anything missing before completing a ground survey to confirm the details. [Talk-GB] OSM sighting on ferry
Whilst on the (Southampton - Isle of Wight) Red Funnel car ferry today, there was a series of slideshow pictures on a TV screen. One of them included a properly attributed OSM map! It wasn't a customised rendering - it was certainly familiar to me. I don't think it was the slippy mapnik map, but I could be wrong.
