Any idea what broke the ethernet connection? New router or switch
in the mix? Upgraded OS? Odd behavior, so something must have changed.

? Are they really dead?
thanks for your help

Seems like a classic symptom of a dead PRAM battery. Sometimes you
can test this by letting it boot then quickly switching the power
off then back on.

Under the front lip there are two latches. I use a screwdriver
to gently pry them up while pulling on the front bezel.
The front hinges up. The hard drive is behind a metal door
held by one screw.

If so, it should work fine.

Epson printers (at least as old as
the Stylus Color 600 cannot be shared using Epson software. There is at
least one third-party printer utility that will allow sharing older Epson

I think all Apple serial printers can be shared.

Apple's support site for OS X printer
sharing for more info, but essentially, it says that trying to share
a printer between OS X and OS 9 machines may result in the printer
being available to neither.
Sorry.

And, if you have a Sony TV that uses an infrared remote control
in the same room as the 6200, you will find it losing sound at
odd times. I finally figured out that the computer lost sound
at the times I muted the TV ads!
Fixed it by putting black electrical tape over the lens!

seem to recall that the Macs with on-board ethernet needed

Can you save a list of the extensions that are active on

Any other good ways to move the files, not including emailing them?
Now way to go from 7100 to USB flash drive directly.
A network is probably your best bet.
If it is a new laptop, just use an ethernet cable. Cheap

Mike N,
I have a PowerCenter 132...
That's a PCI-based Power Mac clone, I believe. You can ask here, but you
may have more luck on the PCI Power Macs list. I know all about the
Nubus NewerTech accelerator, but not much about the PCI versions.

of
those former high-end SuperMac/Radius models such as the Thunder24, I would
try to use your Apple PDS AV or HPV card.
I have the 300-MHz version of the NewerTech G3 card (in a Power Mac 8100).
It has been working reliably for many years (bought it new back when it was
new).

. I'm assuming the Sonnet version works similarly.
(Now... the 6100 does only have the one PDS slot. A G3 accelerator fits a
bit differently in the 6100.)

Having said that, I don't have any direct experience with Power Mac 6300's.
I do know that it does not work with 8100's. I don't think 7100's and
6100's would have much luck either.
