Hi Dave,

I don't see how a different host would help with the lack of general Drupal
skills, or specific knowledge about the Templates and Extensions sites. But
I'll be glad to answer your questions. And to continue to hunt down any
technical problems in the other thread (so far they don't really seem to be that
widespread, might just some templates that aren't public).

50-60,000 templates per month

https://sourceforge.net/projects/aoo-templates/files/stats/timeline?dates=2017-01-01+to+2017-03-21

45-90,000 extensions per month

https://sourceforge.net/projects/aoo-extensions/files/stats/timeline?dates=2017-01-01+to+2017-03-21

At those stats links you can explore over time, country, and platform.

SourceForge accounts are used to manage the aoo-templates and aoo-extensions
projects, which contain all the file releases and ssh/sftp access to web hosting
(apache/php/mysql). The Drupal sites are separate, so have their own security.
I am not familiar with how it was developed, but I would imagine it is standard
Drupal security.

Yeah, I will see if there's anyone here that can help out. It might not
 happen
very quickly though, and in general we support just the hosting and not the
Drupal/PHP code. But we want OpenOffice to keep on doing great, so I'll
 see if
we can provide any extra help.

Who has an admin login to the templates site? I think adding more admins
 is
 the
first step, so people can try to check the permissions & metadata on the
 bad
 template entries.

Once someone starts to dig into the code, my general debugging approach
 would be
to grep the codebase for "Access Denied" and "If you were looking for a
Template, this means it is no longer available." etc to see what triggers
 that
error message. I also wonder if the codebase is in git anywhere?

I think it will be useful to see what we can see from the Drupal admin side.
Once you're in, could you set my user as an admin? (username "dave-brondsema"
id 241648) Then I can start the process of looking around in there.

More than a Release Manager we need builds. Can you put builds online
for people to test? Even though it is (deliberately) complex to do so,
you can upload them to your home.apache.org account via SFTP.

I can only follow a few discussions lately, but I think I can provide
proper Linux-64 builds from the AOO414 branch matching the 4.1.3
specifications (this won't happen before end of March). Unfortunately
this is only marginally useful as the majority of downloads are for
other operating systems. So it is very valuable if, on your own machine
(no buildbots, let's keep it simple), you can provide builds for other
systems.

Even 3 languages (English, German and one of your choice) would be
enough for people to test.

http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/openoffice/devtools/build-scripts/ has some
information about the environments. But only the Linux one is really clear.

  Andrea.

Yes, it seems stuck indeed. I expected Ariel to target mid-February
for the release. I can still help building on Linux. 4.1.4 was (still
is) supposed to be a maintenance release just to push some bugfixes
 for 4.1.3.

> Can you please reconsider releasing 4.2.0?
Nothing forbids to plan for 4.2.0 already now. We don't need to
release 4.1.4 before thinking about 4.2.0. If someone is available to
be a Release Manager for 4.2.0, things can go on in parallel. I
honestly think we will want to "release" (in the sense of making
available somehow) a beta of 4.2.0 too, so work in that direction can
 start already now.

However, this wouldn't help. AFAIK we have nobody with Drupal knowledge.

You could tell us what to look for and what to do in cases A, B, C, etc.
But then it's better when you (SourceForge) do it yourself right away. ;-)

Also I'd like to see a better example of where this is failing. The example

I don't know of any other better examples. But IMHO there were some

Is it OK to mixup the namespaces within a specific module / code area?
When you are sure that there won't be any side effects then it's maybe OK.

However, to support the consistency within the OpenOffice code I would
favour the old way.

Templates and Extensions

2017-03-20 Thread Dave Fisher
Hi -

SourceForge has been very helpful to the OpenOffice community. But with the
issues seen in the other thread it may be time to explore what it would take to
find an alternative way to host the OpenOffice extensions and templates sites.
We need to have quick support and there is risk to the community not to have it.

In order to begin an exploration of this it would be important to know the size
of the “problem”. A few questions about the scope.

(1) How many downloads in a month and what is the pattern?
(2) How many extensions are there?
(3) How many templates?
(4) What scheme is used for login/security?

Other questions and comments? At this time we are unlikely to get any support
from ASF infrastructure.

If any of these is confidential (like security) then please respond to that
part only at priv...@openoffice.apache.org

Dave

Package name for new UNO components?

2017-03-20 Thread Damjan Jovanovic
Hi

Our pre-existing UNO components use service names of the form
com.sun.star.*, for example:
com.sun.star.comp.sdbc.calc.ODriver
com.sun.star.comp.io.TextInputStream
com.sun.star.comp.Calc.SpreadsheetDocument

I am busy developing a new UNO component, a database driver for PostgreSQL.
Should I rather use a prefix such as org.apache.openoffice.* for it instead?

Damjan

Hi All

@Ariel please give a comment, if you are able to create the Release or
not. If not, I'm willing to volunteer as release manager.

N'ko in the list of complex scripts ?

2017-03-20 Thread jjmeric

Hello everybody !

I am currently about to release a spell-checker for Maninka (a West
African language, mainly spoken in Guinea).
This language is written in the N'ko script, a Right-to-left language
like Arabic and others. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%27Ko_alphabet

This requires two things:

1) the script should be listed in the list of Complex scripts
(Linguistic options/Language) alongside Hindi, Arabic, etc.
- a similar list is displayed in Format/character for "complex script
font / language"

I have the same requirement for Libre Office.

2) the value "nqo-GN" (official for N'ko) should be accepted as a Locale
in the spell-checker's dictionaries.xcu file

   nqo-GN

NOTE :
this works well in Libre Office, I mean : it is displayed as "N'ko" in
the list of Languages for choice in Format/character for complex
scripts, and it has the spellcheck green "checked" icon.

This is the desired behavior, it does not work currently in Open Office
4.1.3.
However, if I pretend my spell checker is for ar-SA (Arabic (Saudi
Arabia), it will display the green "checked" icon, and work properly as
a N'ko spellchecker. However this is very bad diplomacy...

What is the process to get this acted upon ? Possibly this is not the
right place to post...

Anything I can do to help, I will, of course!

Thanks for help & advice.
