[Flexradio] Flex-3000: RF output power reduction after a short period of operation

2016-03-11 Thread Brian Miller
Hi all My Flex-3000 has developed an RF output power problem. After transmitting with full drive (Drive = 100) for a couple of minutes in a CW QSO the RF output drops back from more than 100W to around 70W. This occurs on all bands and whether transmitting into a dummy load or a matched

I had some problems with overflow/underflow and audible glitches using VAC 4.13 with my Flex-3000 radio. The problems disappeared after I reverted to VAC 4.11. 73, Brian VK3MI -- Message: 5 Date: Wed, 02 Apr 2014 19:02:33 -0400 From: David Edwards w...@verizon.net

Hi Tim Several models of HP notebook have ExpressCard ports. I'm using an HP ProBook 6570b and a Firewire ExpressCard with my Flex-3000. The note book also has on board FireWire port (JMicron controller) but unfortunately it is not compatible with the radio. 73, Brian VK3MI ZL1AZE

[Flexradio] Portable power supply for Flex-3000?

2013-09-19 Thread Brian Miller
Hi all I'm looking for a small and lightweight AC power supply to power my Flex-3000 radio when travelling. I'm thinking of a small switch mode supply but it will need to be very quiet from an RF noise perspective. Any recommendations for a power supply in this category? Thanks and 73

[Flexradio] WriteLog modification for Flex-3000 SO2V operation

2013-03-31 Thread Brian Miller
Hi All WriteLog version 11.10 has just been released at http://writelog.com/downloads/writelog-versions . This version includes a modification to the K3 rig driver so that it can be used with the Flex-3000 radio for SO2V (single operator two VFO) operation. I expect the modification will

[Flexradio] Noise problem when tuning Flex 3000

2013-01-26 Thread Brian Miller
I'm running a Flex 3000 radio with PowerSDR 2.5.3. When tuning across the 160M band (in any mode) the received noise floor toggles between a normal (lower) level and an erroneous (higher) level. Steps as small as 1 Hz can toggle the noise floor. The erroneous level is approximately 6 dB

Re: [Flexradio] Waterfall memory for each band

2012-10-20 Thread Brian Miller
Hi Tim Thanks for the hint - we look forward to seeing this feature in PowerSDR v2.5.x :-) It would also be helpful if this future version of PowerSDR could expand the waterfall parameters to offer a faster refresh rate - ideally to something like the rate used in CW skimmer. I find the

2012-02-14 Thread Brian Miller
Thanks to everyone for the comments. It does seem that the fluctuations in the output power meter readings are an artefact of the sampling/averaging process that drives the meter display. I will have a play with the multimeter options to see if there is a setting which provides a more

I have recently acquired a new Flex-3000 radio (running SDR v2.2.3) and have been giving it a test drive into a dummy load. All seems well except that the output power reading on the TX meter fluctuates from about 70W to 105W when transmitting CW dots or dashes at 30 wpm and 100% drive. Is this
