I'm wondering what size and type of enclosure
everone is using for their Uroplatus henkeli. My guy is in a 60 gallon
Reptarium, with all but two openings covered in clear palstic. I really
dislike this enclosure, and want to upgrade, but would like to hear what other
people are doing before
So tonight I happened tosee a freshly
shedBlaberus discoidales in my roach colony. I decided that if my beardy
could tackle a couple of these monstersin a sitting, my U. hekeli,
Kurt, should get a chance to try one too.
I took the succulent white creepy-crawly out and
placed it in the cage

Niel,
You sound as is you don't like the idea of the
compact flourescents. MayI ask why? I really like them myself,
and use thembefore conventional fluor. any time given a choice. They
have some pretty nice c.f. UV bulbs now with output around

Second off, if you wanted some information, you

I'll finaly be getting two captive bred female Uroplatus henkeli from Kelly

I've goot normal old grey pillbugs in my Uroplatus vivarium, and they do a
great as detritovors. I have never noticed the U. henkeli eating them, but
then he is prowling the vivarium all night while I'm usually asleep, so he
could be eating them without my knowledge. I noticed someone

I wonder if anyone out there has a source for captive bred Helix aspersa or
Helix pomatia (garden snails, or escargots), or breeds the little slimy

So, I just got two ~ eight month old female Uroplatus henkeli. I figured
they'd be old enough to put with my adult male. Plus, male henks are not
known to be the randiest lizards, so I guessed he wouldn't even notice them
for a while. I guessed wrong. I put the females in during the day, and
I wonder how spacious and/or naturalistic yours were? Not that I doubt that
they went downhill, or your experience or expertise, but it seems glass
/plastic/wood/screen are all the same to a gecko: walls which contain them.
Not to be negative or anything, I'm just saying...

not in the pic, but I now have a nice light source (though no UV, just
dusting his roaches with Rep-Cal Vit D3 Ca for the next ~ 4 months he'll be
in there. As for air circulation, I have a 3x16 vent along the bottom of
one side and top of the other side. This creates a nice airflow as warm
Is this for real? If so, why send it in a MSdoss format?...very suspicious.
It should be in a simple text atatchment or right in the message.
Thanks,

As for the wild caught issue, yes they are there, and no, I don't think that
is a bad thing. The only Uroplatus that were there were wild caught, but
tell me one place you've seen U. lineatus captive
I just watched my Uroplatus henkeli mate for the first time ever...
wow. amazing... just fantastic.
I'm looking for live cultured land snails, either Helix Aspersa

I have used Calcium Glubionate (Neo-calglucon) in the past for
rehabilitation purposes, will this be a good choice to boost my recently
gravid female's calcium intake? If not, what would you suggest?

I use Rep-Cal Ca w/ D3 mostly, and pure Calcium Carbonate on occasion,
as well as Rep-Cal Herptivite once or twice a week. Neil The Master
Meister recommended snails or liquid calcium to help her reestablish her
calcium supply. I will not do snails due to parasite concerns and
availability
The last two messages I tried to send did not make it. They had
pictures attached, could that be the reason?

So, with five eggs now in the incubator (and more undoubtedly on the
way), and the prospect of baby /Uroplatus henkeli/ popping out in about
a month and a half, I'm getting ready for the little buggers. I plan on
using some 20 qt (14x8x9) Sterilite tubs turned on their ends (so
they are tall)
to solve my caging issue for the upcoming hatching of many Uroplatus
henkeli babies, I came up with this system:

Those are 20Qt (5 Gallon) Sterilite tubs, on end, with custom front
opening doors and side vents. They are all plumbed to a
substrate does lead to dents. You'll have to wait and see on
the egg remaining, I wait a minimum of 100days.

So I was just walking past the big viv with my trio of U. henkeli,
when I heard a weird hissing noise. I looked in to find my large,
normally robust, female lying on the ground looking dead. Turns out
she's not dead, but she may be heading in that direction - she is

I actually don't have much of a choice about the vet right now anyway... My wife and I just can't afford the services right now, or at least not if I want to replace the UV lights above their enclosure, and get a new supplement to balance out any inconsistencies in the RepCal products... some

Often you can drip liquids on their snout and eventually they will
