Radoslaw, careful what you are willing to give away - are these tapes completely free of any confidential data? We've gone to the steps of shredding old tapes just to keep the residual information secret. Several products, including our tape utility FATS, allow you to erase tapes. On

I just get held by two APARs: AK34959 and AK33471. Those APARs can be found ...under PK34595 and PK33471. I guess PKn is APAR number, and AKn is APAR fix number. Correct. The convention for ++APAR fixes is that the first version issued replaces the first character of the APAR number

(In any case, as far as I know the PTF will always link to the APAR, but for a security/integrity APAR you won't be able to see the APAR itself.) Really? I have never seen that. Walt, do you have an example? -- Bruce A. Black Senior Software Developer for FDR Innovation Data Processing

Sweet! I have a couple of systems without any kind of monitor product, and this gives a nice display of storage. Thanks, Bruce. Ur welcome. FDRDEBUG has a lot of other function as well. If the customer has the ABR ISPF panels installed, go to the ABR main menu (usually A) and enter B to

I checked with our I/O maestro. We don't happen to mix tape and DASD on a chpid, but it's apparently more out of long-standing habit and housekeeping practices than concern for the vagaries of modern technology. back in the days of unbuffered round tape, mixing tape and disk was a no-no.

Re: Who intercepted SVC 26?

2007-02-01 Thread Bruce Black
The culprit appeared to be... FDR! That was a surprise to me, so I went digging in the installation parms and discovered that we'd configured it to use a catalog locate exit for auto recall. Guess when Bruce says locate exit he means front-end SVC 26 since there isn't a locate exit anymore.

I should mention an easier alternative to all the TEST and IPCS options that have been offered. If you go to ISPF 6 and enter FDRDEBUG SYS you will get a display that includes a lot of system information, including the eyecatchers of the top level intercept for SVC 26. -- Bruce A. Black

Is there a way of finding the total amount of DSCBS that is available and being used on a given disk? I used to use DISKMAP, but for some reason this installation does not have it. I would appreciate any suggestion. If the installation has FDRABR, the FDREPORT component can do that.

If the installation has FDRABR, the FDREPORT component can do that. Email me privately if they do have FDREPORT and I will give you a jobstream. I had a request to post the job here, so here it is. //REPORT EXEC PGM=FDREPORT,REGION=0M //SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=* XSELECT VOL=ABC* --
