Yeah,
I don't need JAWS for work, when I lost my vision, I had so few working

I've still got JAWS version 9 running on this Windows XP machine, along with
Microsoft Word 2003 and Outlook Express.
I also have a Windows 7 laptop with JAWS 17 instaled. But sadly, on that
computer, JAWS seems to get stuck and has to restart itself rather more
frequently than I like. I can
Hi!
From what some have said about some web sites being harder to navigate
with older versions of JAWS, I have decided not to uninstall JAWS 18, it
just won't be my primary screen reader. I also have NVDA installed for
those few programs, mostly games written with BGT, that don't play well
Hi
Yeah, I'm finding out that most people that aren't using the latest
version of JAWS are using version 16, which is encouraging.
I use Windows 7 because I hated the Metro interface Microsoft tried to
force on us in Windows 8, and because I believe Microsoft is over

Hi,
Your plan sounds good to me, as long as it works for you. I have a win 7
machine running JAWS 15 and have no plans to upgrade in the hopes of missing
all the headaches with versions 17 and 18. And like you when my win 7 machine
dies I will probably wind up with a win 10 machine, so for now

Hi Gene,
I have been using Jaws since version 5. Over the years, I have found that
some versions of Jaws are very good and others are junk. In my opinion,
version 17 is junk. I had upgraded from Jaws 15 to 17. After the upgrade, I
had nothing but problems. After several months of struggling,
Hi Gene,

is J16. I use J16 about 95% of the time.
Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers!

I think that perhaps the latest upgrade of 18 may have fixed the issue I
kept having, which was that Jaws periodically disappeared when I changed
from one window to the next. I may be wrong. I only did the upgrade
yesterday. But it's really expensive to stop paying for those SMA's. The one

only 80gb total memory capacity. I don't think adding another 2gb

Hi.
You might try upgrading to windows 8.1 or windows 10, they are slightly
more efficient in general, in some places they will be more sluggish
yet, but on the whole 8.1 and 10 take less system resources to run just
the OS. You could downgrade to xp by using an xp install disk and a
windows
drive has only 80gb total memory capacity. I don't think
adding another 2gb of RAM would make an appreciable improvement in
performance.

I wouldn't downgrade to XP as it is not supported any more and there will be no
updates etc released for it.
Did you run an upgrade or was it a fresh install?
Have you updated to all the latest drivers for your device?

I would first go to ms config and see what is in your startup list, the more
checked the longer to startup and can run sluggish.
I personally have about 4 items checked in that list of stuff.

No, I don't think so. You likely upgraded to the newer IOS and I think IOS
5 and certainly IOS 6 require a newer version of iTunes to work.

The only problem with this, is the fact that any doc's created with
2007 may not be useable in 2003. Microsoft makes there products
backward compatible, but not forward compatible.

Hi Patti,
You can remove Office 2007 and install Office
2003 from an installation media such as a CD
or an external hard disk (or whatever the
media you use). You'll desinitely need the
Office 2003 product key.
Cheers,
