Re: [JAWS-Users] organizing my favorites

2018-06-01 Thread Tom Fairhurst
Hello, Miriam. When I want to add a site to my Favorites, I arrow to Add to
Favorites and press enter. I then press Shift+Tab twice to reach the Add
button. That's it. If you wish to remove a site, just arrow to it and press
Delete. The New Folder button can be used if you wish to place the site in a
different folder. I have never used it. Remember that the deleted site will
go to your Recycle Bin and remain there until you remove it. While it's in
the Recycle Bin, it can also be restored. HTH.

Aaron,

Thanks for posting your detailed rant. I, too, am enormously frustrated that
browsing has become so time--consuming and sometimes unreliable. I'm
constantly switching among three browsers and two versions of JAWS because
different combinations work best with different websites, and even then some
websites remain hard, if not impossible, to navigate. The other day, a
certain website owner had taken steps to make everything accessible, only
for me to install Firefox 60 and generate a host of new issues. No wonder
some website designers get frustrated with accessibility obligations.

Developments on the Web seem to be moving faster than screenreader companies
can keep up with. But I wonder why non-screenreader users aren't also
encountering limitations with different browsers, since each seems to
function differently.

Hi.

I switched to Firefox 60, found it still a bit lacking in performance, and
switched back to Chrome. A site that makes it painfully clear which one is
winning is amazon.com. Just doing a search for something and noticing how
long pages need to appear and be readable, and how responsive navigation
keys arrows and quick nav etc are. Firefox is almost back to what it was in
52, but not totally. I was under the impression it would run better than
chrome but that hasn't been so for me.

Edge is reasonably quick loading pages and allowing me to begin arrowing on
them, but the way it announces going in and out of regions and such is very
verbose and I find it slows me down too much. I'm really a little annoyed at
just how much it seems to be asking to have a really good browsing
experience this day and age. Chrome doesn't have it all either, it can
easily get messed up and start using all of your ram. I'm not having that
problem myself luckily, but I have multiple friends that are, each of them
on multiple computers too.

In any case, I'm not trying to convert you folks to Chrome or anything like
that, guess I wanted to rant a little.

believe C Cleaner may do this, too. If it does, its funcions differ from
Disk Cleanup. Disk Cleanup is used to obtain more disk space on your hard

files which can be customized by the user. One can optionally remove System

I've done a number of these and, if you let the hims driver install where it

When installing the hims driver, there are two or three separate pieces of
software within the driver package. Each one has a Finish Button and it's a
bit confusing because when you press Finish the process starts again. It's
very easy to assume you've made a booboo and people often press Cancel or
close the installer too soon. just let the thing go round a few times till
it goes away.
The other thing to remember is to not connect the U2 till the Hims driver is
finished installing.

Found it, and it was a fat one, opened it with notepad++, because the
regular notepad would be a wrong choice.
The file Directory:"C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\vlc\vlcrc

Long story short, the hotkeys configuration lines start with the line

the volume hotkey configuration started with line number 4206
I've changed my volume hotkeys into ctrl+shift+UP and Down.
Worked like a big scotch shot.
Now I can say VLC is indeed worth the effort.

freezing, both when switching between programs and when doing things in
Outlook. If the fact that Jaws uses a lot of Ram, particularly when
switching programs, I would hope that Jaws programmers and developers are
addressing this, particularly since there is only one other competitor to
Jaws on the market.
We should not have to put up with issues that affect our productivity,
particularly if the issues are caused by the assistive technology we're
using to be productive!

Hello Mike,
John Justice, here.
I work for the state and use configurations which are similar to the ones
you describe.

In the interest of correcting the problem, I brought it to the attention of
our upper level Access group. Their explanation doesn't solve any issues
but it might give you food for thought.

1. THE ISSUE AT HAND: apparently, what we are experiencing is the
assignment of RAM. Current versions of Jaws tend to utilize a considerable
amount of RAM, especially when changing from one software environment to
another. The result is that the system has to {wait} for enough RAM to
perform the function.
2. PROGRAM PRIORITY ASSIGNMENT: It is possible to assign certain programs
on a PC so that they have a priority when RAM is distributed. This is way
beyond my pay grade Mike but apparently, within reason, certain programs can
be allowed to operate at the expense of others, at least temporarily. There
are exceptions to this rule and certain pieces of software are assigned a
permanent top priority. I imagine that the Windows operating system might
have that kind of assignment.
3. According to our A. T. department, reassignment involves the division of
RAM into smaller compartments which then handle this function. The entire
process scares the heck out of me. It isn't something I'd want to attempt.
There might be someone on our list with more technological knowledge than I
have.
4. A WORKING SOLUTION: I am now operating two computers simultaneously.
One is dedicated to some of the functions I need while the second unit
handles primary functions. For example, I use the secondary unit to load
and display Excel spreadsheets. But even with that arrangement, certain
pieces of software will temporarily shut down Jaws until they are fully
loaded. The down time has been measured and it is usually approximately32
seconds.
5. CREATING HOTKEYS FOR RELOADING JAWS: Finally, we have established
hotkeys which can be used to encourage Jaws to restart. Occasionally,
though rarely, Jaws wil not restart after one of these incidents. We use
three key combinations which are dedicated to reactivating Jaws.

The entire thing is frustrating to say the least, Mike. But it's something
we just put up with since jaws performs so well in most other respects.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS freezing when switching between programs

Good morning all! I'm trying to help with one of our employees here at work
on an issue where JAWS freezes unexpectedly when switching from one window
to another using the Alt Tab key. The issue is difficult to resolve because
it doesn't happen every time he switches windows. It does happen two to
three times a day on average, and is hindering his efforts to perform his
job. I have offered several solutions, but nothing has worked yet. When
JAWS freezes, he has to wait some 30 seconds before speech comes back.

I wanted to reach out to the list to see if any of you had any ideas as to
how I could minimize this behavior. I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks very much!

Hello all!
I installed the new JAWS 2018 update on both of my laptops, and many issues
in windows 10 are fixed.

The mail app is almost working perfectly.
I get no repeats of words, and the new message I bring up reads right away.
JAWS works great now, in the One note app. Also, in Edge, JAWS can now list
the form fields, headings, and links. That helps a lot with Edge. You still
cannot select text with the virtual PC cursor in Edge.
JAWS 2018, with this update, works very well in the Windows Defender
security center window. It is very snappy and it reads the information
concerning the scan. I have noticed that action center works much better
with JAWS as well, with this update.

If you have any questions, please ask.
Yes, I almost forgot.
JAWS now works the best in Google Docs in Google Chrome browser. You do not
need to use Firefox anymore to use Google Docs, sheets, and so on.

Google Drive and docs are very snappy with this new update.
Have a great one!

Hello Inamuddin, I was hopeful that the latest 2018 update would solve the
Windows Mail troubles as well but was disappointed in the results as noted
by you and others.
With little to lose, I did a repair on this new version earlier today. The
repair took about 4 times longer than the initial successful install but
since doing this, the Windows 10 Mail program is almost working properly.
On occasion I have to unload and reload both JAWS and Windows Mail and, for
some reason, that seems to restore proper behavior on this Dell Desktop of
recent manufacture.
I would be interested if others with Windows 10 Mail issues find a repair of
the latest update results in improvement. Thanks, Mitch

Windows Defender for anti-virus. Free version of MalwareBytes for
anti-malware.

Defender is already built into your Windows 10 and probably good enough for
your purposes. It's less annoying than free AV out nowadays, which is always
full of ads and hardly ever great from an accessibility standpoint. And it
does detect a lot of stuff. Arguably, too much. But you can exclude areas of
your drive if you are getting false positives.

I found this to be quite interesting and helpful. The Amazon web site
detects if you are using jaws, probably other screen readers as well. Anyway
when it detects jaws a screen overlay is also displayed giving phone number
contact information for people with disabilities.
The other day I needed to call and asked Karen to bring up the page on her I
pad. She told me that there is no such number. I came upstairs and there it
was. She since did a search and learned that it detects screen readers.
What great customer service.

[JAWS-Users] Starting Playback

2018-01-06 Thread Tom Fairhurst
I just have to ask this question one more time. Does pressing the Spacebar
cause playback to start when you are outside the main window, for example,
in the library window? If I press the Spaceb ar in a menu or while doing a
search queery in the library, the Spacebar functions the same way as it
would in the main window.

Hi, all. On my Dell Xps-1501 laptop running Windows 7 64 bit, Windows Media

plays for a couple of seconds and stops. I tried to change the setting in

When I am in the TO: field, I type the first letter of a name. With
previous versions of JAWS, the first name beginning with that first letter
in my autocomplete list would be spoken. If I was to hit the down-arrow
key, the next name in the list would be spoken. I could down-arrow through
the list until I found the name I wanted. When I hit the tab key, the name
would be inserted in to the TO: field and I could begin typing the next
to-name and repeat the process for this second name. None of this is
working with the new release of JAWS. After I have typed that first letter
and hit the down-arrow key, I hear a beep; indicating that I can't
down-arrow through the list. So, it isn't that JAWS just isn't announcing
it.

It really has nothing to do with the manufacturer of a laptop. I have
owned three HP laptops over the years; as well as Acer and Averatec's.

For the most part, a laptop is a laptop; they mainly vary in how the
keyboard is layed out.

*CONSIDERATIONS*

Most manufactuers install a lot of "bloatware" on the laptop. When you
got it, did you get rid of all that extra crap?

You could start with a program like PC DeCrapifier.

Have you made sure you don't have conflicting anti-virus programs running?
Again, a lot of manufacturers include trial anti-virus programs. Uninstall
them if you're not going to use that particular one; most of them supply
McAfee or Symantek.

Third, look at your bootup programs. Open the Msconfig program and go to
that list. Uncheck things you don't need to necessarily run at start-up.
Many programs that you install think they need to run at start-up, it
isn't wholely necessary. Example: you don't really need Dropbox or
Microsoft Office etc. running at startup. You do, of course, want your
anti-virus, various windows services, and of course, Jaws to run.

As somebody else mentioned, you can find websites to help you identify
programs and/or processes that you can then consider not being necessary.

After you make adjustments in your MsConfig file, you need to enable
"selective startup" so that only those items you designated will run at
start-up.

As somebody else mentioned, if you had a dual-boot setup, you will have a
delay that they specified so you can choose which operating system you
wanted to start with.

It may also make a difference if you have a regular disk drive (not a
solidstate drive), to clean it (get rid of unnecessary and temporary
files), then take a look at the defragmentation report to see if you c
ould gain some efficiencies by de-fragging your disk.

This won't affect boot-up times, but it will speed up your access. When
you shutdown, you could choose to put your laptop in Sleep mode rather
than completely shutting it down. This will put your currently open
programs and windows into memory, so that when you wake it up, all you
need to do is enter your password and you'd be up and running again.

And, as a last resort, sometimes you just get so much garbage in the
installation of windows and programs, that just doing a clean re-install
of windows and restoring your programs and files after that would be an
option. To me, it's a pain in the butt, so the slow boot-up times would
really have to bother me to do that.

My computer had been starting slowly for a long time. I was having trouble
with Office 365, so I called the Microsoft Disability
Desk. The lady who helped me with Office 365 also helped me to speed up my
computer at startup by disabling a number of programs in msconfig. I don't
recommend looking at this lightly because doing so without knowing what you
are doing could keep your computer from starting properly. once I understood
what she was doing, things indeed went much faster, even though I put back
a few programs I wanted. Thus, your issues may involve JAWS by itself, be in
combination wwith other programs, or not JAWS related at all.

You can use the OCR feature of jaws using Insert+space, then O, and then
either S or W/ This will activate the JAWS cursor. you can get a little more
information on how the scan is progressing--how many files have been scanned
and a file name. Tjere won't be an estimated time of completion. A Vipre

I thought I would let you know that I have purchased Vipre. I advised the tech
of the need to read the scan progress bar better. He was very attentive and
idicated that they would be working with JAWS in the future. We’ll see what
happens.

I must agree here. The Microsoft accessibility desk helped me with my
installation of Office 365. I couldn't open Excel files. Ultimately, they
completely reinstalled Office 365, and it works much better now. It took a
good hour, but they were very helpful throughout the process.

I can only speak for myself, but one of the big reasons I have always
prefered PCs over Macs, and Android phones over iPhones, is the amount
of choice available. I sympathise with thsoe who really want to use
Edge and want it to work for them, but the truth is that you don't
have to use Microsoft's products if they dont' make you happy. Firefox
is still a great browser and it's fully supported in JAWS. Chrome
works beautifully nowadays when three years ago that wasn't at all the
case. Don't be afraid of choice. Embrace it. Nobody has to use Edge
and because of the nature of the WWW, that will never be the case. I
think Microsoft is a lot better with accessibility concerns now than
they used to be. Its' not perfect, but that's something we should at
least be somewhat accustomed to by now. Remember when Windows 3.1 came
out, and everyone was using it except for blind people because of how
crap the screen reader support was at the time?

And yeah, office accessibility is a work in progress, but they're
doing a lot to improve it with every update. I can understand why
Office is an accessibility priority and not Edge. Simply put, there
just isn't really a great replacement for mS office out there; there's
a good reason most of the working world still uses it. Edge is just
one browser among several.

Quoting Jim Fettgather :

I must respectfully suggest that if you do have the option of updating
Word 2016 to the very latest version, the choices in the spell check
dialog are now accessed by simply pressing the tab key, and it works
very very well.
It is highly accessible, I am an office 365 subscriber, so that is how
I was able to get the latest update.
I am unsure about installations of Office that are not on a 365
subscription, but I believe that you can go to the Accounts tab under
the file tab and attempt to check for updates.
I completely acknowledge the hideous situation with the Edge browser,
but I believe that Microsoft has been pretty transparent in making
their plans known to incrementally improve accessibility of their
Windows and Office products.

I am using JAWS 18 with Windows 7 64-bit Pro and IE 11. As I was filling out
the form for a Microsoft account, I had to select my birthdate: date, month,
and year. These selections are in list boxes. The down and up arrow keys read
nothing. I could not read these unless I tabbed out and back into them. The
read line key read nothing. Pressing Alt-Down Arrow didn’t change anything.
Pressing the right and left arrow keys moved me to the next field on the page.
I was able to fill out the form but I had to tab in and out of the fields
several times to make sure I had chosen correctly. Any help would be

Press Insert+J, arrow up to Help, and press Enter. Then arrow up to Startup
Wizard and press enter. You will find options for starting JAWS. You can
choose Never to have JAWS not start automatically. Control+Alt+J is a good
hot key, but you can use any hot key you like. Keep in mind that you must
set the hot key for the JAWS icon by using Windows properties. Also, if you
update your JAWS version or uninstall and reinstall for any reason, you must
set up the hot key again for the new icon.

[JAWS-Users] Winamp

2017-06-29 Thread Tom Fairhurst
Well, I have egg on my face. After a couple of reinstallations and my discovery
of the JAWS help file, I got things going. The information was quite helpful. I
unchecked visualization and the detector plug-in. I was already using the
classic skin. I couldn’t find anything about modern skin support in the latest
Winamp version. However, the program runs much more smoothly. Thanks so much
for everyone’s help. I am left with one petty annoyance. As you know, the
spacebar has the play/pause function. I would expect this while in the main
window. However, it also occurs in the library window. The work-around is to
press the JAWS bypass key before pressing the spacebar. As I said, it is only a
little nuisance. But it would be nice not to need this work-around. Thanks
again.

uncheck the detector plug-in and Visualization during the installation. I
was using the classic skin anyway. I figured out that every time I press
Insert+3, the bypass key before pressing the spacebar, it will behave
normally. The only petty annoyance I have now is that I cannot review the
contents of the search box with the arrow keys. At least, I can review them
with Control+Up Arrow.

seem to work as I expect. However, when I'm in the library window, things
don't work so well. Let's say I am in the search box looking for songs,
artists, or albums. For example, I try to search for mamas and papasin the

playing. This should only happen in the main window. I must go to the main
window to stop it. When I am returned to the search box, I cannot reliably
type in it, nor can I read the text with the arrow keys. I can only read
characters when I am deleting them with the backspace key. I can read the
entire line with Control+Insert+Up Arrow. Thus, I can't search for anything.
If I try to keep typing, my keystrokes are not passed to the search box, but
rather, they are processed as if intended for the main window. . If I press
the spacebar again, my song will start playhing again. Winamp seems to
process some keystrokes as if I am in the main window when I am actually in
the library window. I am wondering if I need to change some Winamp settings.
I guess I can try to reinstall, but I hate to do this because to get a clean

I'm getting confused...

What exactly are you trying to do?

Are you trying to play a song from your library using the library pane of
Winamp?

If this is the case, then you should use the enter key, not the spacebar.

It's similar to iTunes.

You can arrow up and down the library, but until you press enter on the
selection, the track won't play, though when you press the spacebar, it will
keep playing the previous track you had loaded in Winamp.

I'm also interested in why you are using the Winamp Library?

I find it very difficult to use, though I don't know if scripts have been
created for the Winamp Library feature. Having said that though, I simply
use File Explorer to manage my audio tracks.

Since I have no sight, I don't bother with cover art, or anything like that,
I simply manage the audio tracks as files.

Regardless, Winamp won't stop working, simply because it's not being
developed, there simply won't be any support or updates, so you'll have to
get your support or help from online sources, or lists like these.

Perhaps you could explain in finer detail what it is you're trying to
accomplish, and how you're going about trying to achieve this.

I know some of you are getting tired of this, but I thik the subject is
relevant since we are constantly tryhing to find antivirus, security, and
spyware programs that we can navigate and which do their jobs well. In
Window-Eyes, the mouse cursor can read such headings as “header text,”
block title,” total items scanned” (multiple times), “progressk,”
“right now text,” and “status text.” Uet tje actia; text is not displayed.
I can’t read any of this with JAWS. I hate to say this, but the JAWS cursor
is wortheless in this Window. NVDA reads all headings except “header text.”
Again, the actual information is not read. I will look at letting the folks
at Vipre know this, since they seem to be happy with the facts that they
have a number of visually impaired customers.

I can’t read any of this with JAWS. I hate to say this, but the JAWS cursor

Again, the actual information is not read. I will look at letting the folks

Re: [JAWS-Users] Vipre

2017-06-22 Thread Tom Fairhurst
I am talking about Vipre 2017 version. As I continue to explore Vipre, JAWS
shows any number of what it calls text blocks. Most are labeled but not
read. Sorry, JAWS is simply notup to speed. The touch cursor shows the text
blocks. Further more, even when I turn on the touch cursor, I'm not sure how
to get any action with it from the PC.Even if I can act upon them, it would
sure be nice if more was read. I'm sorry about being sour grapes, but you
may hear more of this from Window-

Eyes users as they explore other programs.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Need help with Adobe Reader DC

All I can say is that sometimes, reading a document by page may be
preferable, as loading a large document can take time and may be sluggish.
You can move page by page, or go to a specific page in the document.
Changing the web setting is definitely preferable.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I did get the solution in a private
email. Here's what worked:

Click the accessibility setup assistant. In the setup assistant do the
following: click next until you find read single page... set this to
read entire document. then click next until you see open in web browser
and uncheck it. then click next and finally finish.

Both of these items needed adjustment. The values above were not the
defaults.

I can now read my document, but it did take quite a while to load the
document. It's over 100 pages. Then, as I arrowed down through the
document, it seemed a little sluggish. Not snappy like reading a web
page or text document in Notepad. Is this normal for a PDF document?

Thanks,
Jeff

Now to David Whitehead's instructions:

You need to change another setting so, tab until you have General

Yes, JAWS's convenient OCR is probably the simplest way of handling this
problem. but I'm wondering why nothing was spoken. Typically, I get an
Adobe dialog asking how I want the PDF file made readable. I click on my
choice and wait. Sometimes the document is read, sometimes I'm told it's

Jeff, did you set up Adobe Reader for accessibility? If not, open
Adobe/Acrobat and press control-k. JAWS will verbalize "Accessibility"
right away. Go from there.

Sorry that you JAWS users can't run it in safe mode, but Window-Eyes can be

courage to monitor the list like GW staff used to do for Window-Eyes. Sorry
for the rant. Indeed, I like some of the features I am finding in JAWS that
are not available with Window-Eyes. I stress the need for JAWS to run in
safe mode as I have experienced the need of using safe mode for such
processes as removing some antivirus programs and doing registry scans.
Additionally, some folders and files can only be removed in safe mode. I
realize that these actions must be taken with care, and not everyone feels
comfortable with it. However, if you are careful, it can be helpful.

Not likely. Eric Damery has insisted for years that it is not possible for
JAWS to be modified to provide speech in safe mode. My understanding is
that Window Eyes provides speech in safe mode only because of a registry
hack. Of course, hacking the registry, especially for the technically
uninitiated could be very risky. Besides, Window Eyes is no longer being
supported, so unless you already have it installed on your computer, you may

not be able to download it any longer. There is another open source, free
screen reader that shall remain nameless that allegedly provides speech in
safe mode, but nobody has ever produced a podcast to demonstrate how this is

accomplished.

By default, JAWS is set to read the message headders and announce the links
count as well as read messages automatically. I have made the following
changes that work for me. I opened a message and then pressed Insert+V for
quick settings. The first item in the tree view is General mail settings.
The reading of headders, the links count, and message automatic reading are
controled here. I unchecked the first 2 boxes and left the third one
checked. Thus, I have messages reading automatically without the other
verbage. Even if the message should start reading below the top, at least,
all I need to do is press Control+Home. I have only made these changes
recently, so I'm still experimenting a bit.

I asked about this earlier and received no response. I couldn't read
anything on the home screen with Window-Eyes. With JAWS, all I can read is a
number of graphics labeled with numbers. Labeling these would either require

help reading Sophos with JAWS. By the way, NVDA did a little better, but it

So, I saw a post on twitter, and it is talking about antivirus. Part of
the page says:

The easiest way to ensure that your antivirus software is working is to
use the EICAR test file.

The EICAR test file is a virus simulator developed by the European
Institute for Computer Antivirus Research and
Computer Antivirus Research Organization.

To create an EICAR test file, copy and paste the following line into a
blank file using a text editor such as Notepad:"

for your review. When i went to send the original message intending to
keep things in tact, the outbound picked it up as harmful which means it
worked, but MSE never picked it up nor what I've written below. A bit
concerning.

I did this, and found that microsoft security essentials leaves it.

I got concerned when I knowingly saved a file as I wanted to see if it
would pick up the file. I left it for awhile and saved it on one of my
drives. I submitted it using I believe it was av test or a site that I
found that allowed me to see what antivirus picked this particular file
I had up. MSE never picked it up. Now that I'm a Jaws user, what
antivirus besides MSE would work with Jaws?

I've got Windows 7, 64 bit. I don't think MSE is doing the trick
anymore if a file can go undetected for that long, and it never got
flagged for review. It was a zip, with an executable in it, which i
knew was dangerous, but I save them at times to see if the thing is
working and picks them up.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Accessible password manager

Hi All!

Back in 2003, long before I lost my vision, I discovered RoboForm and
really liked it. One of the things RoboForm could do was to
automatically fill out internet forms with all your information
including things like name, address, credit card info, bank account
info, etc. and so on. But it's primary function was to remember all the
user IDs and passwords you use for various web sites, and could fill in
those login forms for you. It also had a password generator for
generating strong random passwords.

But now I find the user interface rather cluttered and with few, if any,
shortcut keys to make navigating through the program easier. Plus some
parts of the program are simply inaccessible, I can, for example,
generate a password, but can't change the criteria for generating the
password.

So, can anyone recomend a fully accessible password manager? I don't
really need it to fill all my information into forms, but do want the
ability to remember login information and to automatically fill out
login forms when requested. Although not absolutely necessary, a
password generating function would be nice to have.

Oh, and it needs to work with Internet Explorer 11.

Thanks!

Later...

[JAWS-Users] Selecting E-mail Recipients in Windows Live Mail

2017-05-27 Thread Tom Fairhurst
I won’t write about this any more because I’m as tired of writing about it as
you are of hearing about it. I have the latest version of Window Eyes, the
latest version of NVDA, and the latest version of JAWS on my Windows 7 64-bit
Pro computer. Selecting E-mail recipients by typing in the To field works
perfectly for me in Window-Eyes.I start hearing suggestions, and arrowing
through the list, they are spoken and can be selected. In JAWS, nothing is
spoken, and no suggestions appear. The Read Current Line and arrow keys only
read my typed text. When I tab out and back into the field, only my typed text
appears. In NVDA, likewise, when I start typing in the To field, I can only
read my typed text. If I arrow down or up, I still only hear my typed text.
However, if I tab out and then back into the field, I hear the first suggestion
spoken. If I were to type some letters and arrow down twice and then tab out
and back, I would hear the third suggestion in the To field. These results
would be expected. Thus, the suggestion information is populating properly,
but NVDA won’t read it. Strange indeed. Thanks so much for everyone’s help.

Thanks for your help. I am using Windows Live Mail. I'll keep looking. I

Unfortunately, this leads me to another issue. The treeview doesn't always
behave reliably, even when the screen is maximized. When arrowing up and
down, some items are skipped. Even when I arrow right and expand the tree
completely, all items are not read. I googled this, and the suggestion was
made to log out and log back into the E-mail account. My problem is that the

There's a setting in quick settings (JAWS key+v) that might help. Make sure
"Address list autocomplete announcement" is checked. If that doesn't fix it,
look down for other possibilities in quick settings. Otherwise, your answer
is in Outlook itself, and there Google will help.
