I don't think it's LyX because there wasn't an actual LyX upgrade. On
another laptop, using this version of Debian testing and LyX, I expanded
the TeX files I required a couple of days ago, Monday, and it didn't
show the slowing behaviour either? It's not a big deal.

Can that be shortened and still work. No idea, but it has done the job
for may years and in many different document classes
It may help you. It may even have someone who understands it find a
shorter way to use it, or another command that will do the same thing?

Always worked straight up, and with a little tweaking of paths, locked
into all LyX documents of which there are thousands. on a new
internal, or external hard drive.
