Re: stereo mix not working on realtech build in soundcard
Thank you David. Yes I am aware of that, but in this case it’s not the issue because jaws still did not came from as it was supposed to in the recording. I just get silence. But yes it’s good to note that. Well, I'm not sure what the content I record have to do with this, the point is when stereo mix is active, it should record what it can here. I am on a laptop with build in audio realtek and a USB headset. At one point it did pick up jaws at least but now its dead silent. stereo mix not working on realtech build in soundcard
I have a laptop and so whenever I select the stereo mix option I just get silents when recording. All the mute are uncheck and volumes up to 100.

Thank you so much. Just too things: Do you find that the build in mics go softer when they get loud noises? Hello. Does anyone no if Neil did a podcast on this, if so, can you pass it on please? Probibly the only zoom you can used with comfort? I did email them before to ask if they can make their recorders accessible, but they din't even answer me. I guess no luck there. I think they not aware of the importance of recording good quality for us as well. If they include human speech, they don't have to pay so much extra costs such as olympus does with the dm7 since it uses tts. And maybe a staff member will do it for free? who noes?
Re: Question about LS-14 digital recorder
Yes, you can change the playback speed as said above. Also, while recording, you can press the F3 function button, and it will place a bookmark for use silently. When power off and on again, the playback speed stays the same. Re: Humanwear Victor Reader Stream Trek
Yes, the button thing is great, but unfortunetly they did not change enough hardware. The stream hardware is quite bad, and all they done now is to change the procesor and remove the line in jac to make room for the gps antenna. They are lazy these days, come out with just a few updates once every now and then, and then they brag on the fact that they have different teams to work on different products wich are suppose to create the impression that they have enough people to make it possible to work on these things properly. They also now will include an fm radio, wich is great, but then stream users is missing out, and its now unfairely expected that if you don't want gps you should buy this thing to get blootooth, and the fm radio. This probibly means that the treck will get more updates and the other stream little or nothing and then they will suddenly discontinue the stream for a new one later. They did the same before with the older stream. After they discontinued it, they did not provide updates for it to bring it inline with the new model, such as to add the consolidate notes and repeat one track only features on the notes and music bookshelfs respectively. All about money and they don't care. Its nice that this unit will have maps onboard, wich means no data drain, but so little hardware change is unexceptible. Kenni, It does not allow for online downloading of those books, because its not mainly pushed to the US market and podcast need some work, but what it can do, it can do very well. Well, I think that humanware really like to give us quite crappy hardware and then we pay fru our nek for what? I love my stream, but I agree that PlexTalk do a much better job with hardware. The stream wifi chip is really not that good. I would love to get a milestone, I think I would like the 212 as it sfor voice and music mostly, as I have enough players with more in a package. Yes but that shouldn't be an excuse. These companies must wake up. I no of a manufacture who does allot better in hardware and wich players wifi is much stronger. Soon it will be able to record internet radio and its much cheaper. Also humanware is very slow to update, fix bugs, and new features. All new promts are now spoken by heather, though they claim the stream is one of the players with human speech, well these days they may just as well remove the human voice altogether, since they don't seem to want to change these promts to speak with it any longer. Yes, the dm7 also don't have podcasts, wich is a pity, as the dm5 have it, but now is discontinued. But the nice thing is dm7 have synthetic speech and skedular and stil have the music player. Re: Daisy Player
Furder more, dain, the thing people don't remember is that with these deticated players, you have full control over text documents or daisy text, wich you don't have on smart phones. Well, because of price issues, I think if you don't need advanced options the milestone seems great and should be a bit cheaper than the rest. A pity they don't cell it here. But in the US irti do cell them. They seem smaller and seem very stable. They have a little more flexibility than the other players as many settings are stored in files such as .ini files wich you can change. You can choose your startup sound among other things that way. Re: Total recorder driver clarefication needed
Hi, the best thing to do is to instal it with defaults set. If you choose one of the older drivers wich allow for choosing the application to be captured, then you stil could have system problems. Those are mostly for xp and although it could be used, it might not be reliable in all cases. Therefore, use the defaults in the instal and it will put the latest good stable driver on your system. Then to silence jaws dearing recording you should not do things on the computer or rood it to another soundcard or headset. Or press insert plus space and then the letter s to mute until recording is done and turn on again the same way. Hello. I got a mackie vlz4 a few weeks ago. Its a 4 channel, and very impressed with it. It have a very clean sound and the mike pre amps are great. I use mine for podccasting and such. It was very important for me to get something that can handle both dynamic and condenser mikes equally well. That is one of the things I have against behringer that their components are not so good. Re: ls100 problem
Well, if you leave the batteries out of the unit for longer than 15 minits, it should later on when you turn it on it will bring up the dialog asking if you want to leave voice on or turn it off. Its a good thing to learn that part of the menu so you can get back there easily. Normally I can get to it quickly, but I did not see the exact structure of the ls100 yet so it will be a bit misleading from me to give you ruff guesses as to where it exactly are. Re: Question and a problem with Total Recorder
You move forward by pressing control plus t, and backwoards with control plus L. If you find you cannot make fine enough ajustments, try adjusting the amount of movement with the control comma and control period keys. So press either of those once and try move back and forth again and ajust as needed. If you keep having problems to close it. Try running as administrator or reinstall the program. Also, if that don't work pleas take note. Open the program again, and try to close it, then as soon as you get the problem again, then go to settings, and then at the bottom you will find debug. Then tab there til you get "save to file" and press on that, and save it to a location where you can find it easily. Then send that as an attachment to support. And any arrir message you get, press on the copy button before you dismiss the dialog with the ok button, so you can paste that in the email. Also, when saving the debug to a file, make sure that the program is not closed before you do that. And don't use the "save more to file" option until you asked by support. Re: Olympus Recorders: Differences Between The DM-4 and DM-7
The dm7 are on the Europe and uk and other sites. Not on the American site. There are stil differences between 901 and dm7. Such as tts for dm7 vursus human femail speech on the 901. The 901 have know text file or daisy support, and not as accessible as dm7. The skedular or diary is not easy to use there as on dm7. Also there is software called controller that ltes you edit files. Re: Voice Guidance Languages On Olympus Recorders
Hi. The thing is that the newer models like ls14 and dm901 don't allow uploading voice files as the older models. When ever are more voice file updates you will then have to download a seprit voice updater program wich will bring the files up to date, after wich you can choose another language if supported. Keep in mind that not all display languages are supported by speech. The manual and spesifications are very clear about that. Where possible, install multiple drives on your system, one for the operating system itself and associated files and another for your audio/video work, that way Windows can quickly access your data files without fighting with itself when trying to access files such as library's or whatever else Windows accesses. Ok now I can see where you coming from. Yes I told myself, that if they were to come out with a new speech only model, I would want to go for it, but as you said, to take so long to update that old hardware, well that is not good practice. PC-audio is a list for the discussion of any PC audio related topic such as PC audio software like sound editors, audio players and audio formats; and hardware like sound cards, CD and DVD devices and so on. While the subject matter is wide ranging, this is not a forum for the discussion of non-pc-audio matters. There are many other lists for political or other discussions. There are also some PC audio related topics which are specifically excluded from the allowable topics. The explicitly prohibited topics include: * requests for songs or other audio files * promotion of audio streams except for occasional announcements of special events * advertising audio products and service Willfully posting an off-topic message is strictly prohibited. While it may be considered that one or two messages that are off topic can't hurt, if everyone on a large list like this took that approach, we would quickly descend into chaos. Asking for replies to be sent privately makes no difference. Some examples of off-topic messages include: * Virus alerts * Jokes and humor * Advertising items for sale * Test messages * Non-audio software and hardware Vulgar language, name calling and other types of flames are strictly prohibited. Sometimes a message thread starts with a clearly defined purpose, but as the discussion develops the subject matter can change. If this happens, you should take the initiative and change the subject line to better reflect the subject matter of the thread. Some people pay by time or volume when they use the Internet. For this reason, please take care when quoting messages that you're replying to. Ideally, keep just enough of the previous message to remind subscribers about the message to which you're replying, and no more. Otherwise, one quickly finds a few lines of new text at the beginning of a message followed by screen after screen of old messages. If you believe that any of these rules are not being followed, do not raise this as an issue on the list. Write to the group owner at pc-audio-ow...@pc-audio.org and express your concern. Re: total recorder
Hi, you must make sure under the recording settings dialog that software moad is selected and for best results use the kernel filter driver. If you don't see the kernel filter driver in the main settings under the driver section, use the install file to reinstall with the kernel filter driver selected. Then just test your volumes, I normally have the recording driver volume set to round about 77%. For example if I decide to play music by selecting artist then it doesn't give me the number of tracks in any particular artists folder and also when I arrow up and down the list, the reaction time is very slow and that is with speeding up the voice guidance. I'm inclined to just use my mobile for music listening unless I can get a better player that will give me very high quality sound reproduction. Oh, nearly forgot, I have to increase the volume to nearly full to get a good level of volume, it seems the DM5 output signal is a low one. It would seem to me that the player is truly meant as a portable recorder and the music player function is an afterthought. This player has never really been used, I'm just getting to grips with it. I bought it a couple of years ago and it has lay in an equipment box ever since and not been touched but maybe I'll consider selling it. Re: Reinstalled Total Recorder
I agree, the only thing why its kind of important that it support aac plus streams and alike, is because then you can add the stations to your favorites, and schedule something and it can record without another player have to be open. The way it is now, you have to have your brouzer or another audio player open in order for the skedular to record. Wich means if I have to record something everyday at nine in the morning, I have to set the skedual, and every night make sure before I go to bed that the audio player is running, and I have to even make sure the station in of intrest is running if I want to record from radio. Wich means the radio have to play the hole night just to enable it to be ready. On 16/11/2014, Dane Trethowan grtd...@internode.on.net wrote: To your eMail first, what formats Total Recorder does or doesn't support really isn't an issue these days, so long as the software can record in Wave or a lossless format then its no big problem given the many file conversion utilities out there such as Switch but yes, I take your point about AAC and it is a little surprising I have to admit. Now regarding the background feature, I jsut tried it and all I can say is wonderful! just schedule what you want to record from the Internet and that's all you do, no interruptions from your Screen Reader or anything else you may be doing on your computer whilst recording, no .need to leave your browser open and the stream playing whilst Total Recorder Professional records and so on, thanks to the list memember who alerted me to this. But that being said, the stations that do play work very well. And I like it the way you can sort your favorites and edit them to your liking. You not just stuck to adding a long list of them. And one of the best things is that you can easily restore to defaults when you mess up settings you not sure of. And you can import and export settings wich I don't no if all of the major editers can do. I also must try background recording. I use the pro adition. The technical help documents about the driver and related issues I find very interesting. And unlike the sound tap program wich is also ment for recording internal audio, with this driver you can at least control verius aspects such as the recording volume where necessary. So you don't have to go to windows system mixer to ajust or the media player internal volume control for example, as once they set to be loud enough for the most part, total recorder can take care of the rest and you can make ajustmenst there. Yes the automatic speech add on is exilint. It works well and I also use the ogg vorbis add on, and the digital mixer add on and the laim mp3 encoder. I also like that it can record in 3gp when you need to save space. I'm not sure what steps you would need to take to record in GoldWave in 3gp, I guess you need to find the correct encoder and for some that might be a bit advanced, as GoldWave shines in wave as that is what it record and where you perform editing anyway. Re: Reinstalled Total Recorder
Yes, its the best program out there I found. Many people don't believe it. Why should many struggle to use complex stuff like audacity if this can do such a good job? I understand for advanced stuff you would go furder but really this help in so many remarks. I like the fact that you can split files in realtime manually. I don't even think it can be done with GoldWave. Split by time many programs supports, but split manually is something to struggle to find. The skedular is easy to use and I like the fact that each dialog that might pup up have a copy and debug button so you can send them all the info they need. It also have a system as whereby you can save bug info settings to a file and stuff so you can send to tech support. There staff is really helpful and with such kind of tools they can easyer help you solve problems and you can actually get the help you need. I really think people should try it before they give it up. If you install it with the default settings and don't change the driver moad, then you will be fine on most newer systems. I don't like ITunes radio so much. They don't really add all the stations I want and I'm not aware of constant stream fixes and updates. At least with Tapp in radio they do that. I suggest you uninstall it again, but then after uninstallation you go to the registry and look if you can find any key for tap in radio and delete the key with any subkeys it might contain. Then restart the pc and reinstall and restart again. Maybe something else is playing up here. Also, when you uninstalled your anti virus, did you do a complete uninstall? Walter, the thing to keep in mind is that, when you plug it in, it should say something like a c adapter connection or pc connection. Voiceover works very well for me and - for the most part - always has done over the last 8 years but there's no doubt that Voiceover itself - like everything else - has gone ahead in leaps and bounds. There are some truly remarkable Apps out there for those who like audio including the best value for money audio editing software that money can buy for a computer of any platform, I speak of Amadeus Pro of course. I think the purchase price has gone up a little since I purchased it around 6 years ago but its still good value for money given that you can do multi track editing and so on. The there's that other tool I wouldn't be without, Audio Hijack Pro which does exactly as its name suggests, hijacks the audio from any source and allows you to manipulate it, capture it, record it, send it somewhere else etc. I've only scratched the surface of course. ** Dane Trethowan grtd...@internode.on.net Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone U.K. 01245 79 0598 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 Mobile: +61400494862 faceTime +61400494862 Fax +61397437954 Twitter: @grtdane On 21 Oct 2014, at 9:58 am, Les Gordon www.cdrdvdr.com mr...@comcast.net wrote: great, i hope it works i'm also looking at purchasing a mac. how is the voice over working on your mac working for you? - Original Message - From: Dane Trethowan grtd...@internode.on.net To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Monday, October 20, 2014 6:51 PM Subject: Re:
Re: Simple Voice Recorder Suggestion
Hi, the dm620 will be a good one, she can ignore any settings she don't no, as the defaults is quite good for a non technical person. Just be sure to back up the speech files in case the recorder need to be formatted in the future. That being said, if she don't no a pc well enough to transfer files, maybe she still need something even more simple, such as the older recorders with only a rewind, forward, and play/stop. But then not all of those got USB? If she don't no windows well, I suggest dolphin guide from dolphin, wich provide a simplified interface for many computer tasks, including file transfers. The Olympus models should be compatible with guide as wel. Download a demo for testing if you wish, let me no if you need a link. The DM range appear to offer the speech system. I can make further enquiries if you would like. I have 2 DM units here, cost about 150 when new. But should be able to locate one easily enough if the asking price is a little high at retail, then second hand would suffice. The RNIB carry the Olympus range, well some of them, the cheaper items do not have the speech offering, and you need to run olympus software. With the DM range, they connect just as an external drive, with an assigned drive letter. Re: accessible blogging site for posting audio
Try www.potbean.com Sorry if i spell rong but i'm sure you will find it. I plan to record my live shows as they're going out on air, so that I can then upload them as a podcast somewhere online, so that people can go and listen to and/or download them. People have said, that you can use blogger to post podcast/show notes, and use ourmedia.com, to upload the actual audio files, which in tern would present you with a link leading to the audio file to which you can paste into the blog. This link, is what people would use to download the file to their computers. This much I understand. However, I've heard, that blogger isn't all that user friendly, and ourmedia.com has a bad habbit of not making uploaded files available right away and once something is uploaded, there's no garuntee as to how long the file will remain on the site. So, I was wondering, if there was an accessible site where I could upload podcasts, and add show notes all in one place? Of course, being that I don't yet have a show slot, I won't have to deal with any of this just yet, but I just wanted to get an idea as to where I could post mp3 copies of my radio show, if I decide to archive it. Thanks. Mike Rochester, NY.
