That's it! Right you are! Thank you, Bob! The reason I couldn't recall it is the fact that the store has been closed for over 10 years. I was trying to google a large department store, and, evidently it was no longer there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Samaritaine Now I am worried if I

One of the several strange, quirky things about Parc Monceau is that at the main entrance there is a beautiful little building which is a copy of Bramante's Tempietto - used as a public toilet. It must be the grandest public toilet in Europe, second only to the one in Charlton House, near me.

Dan, That sounds like a fun trip! I envy you. :-) We've been to Paris many years ago, and keep planning on coming back. There are two things that I could recommend: 1. It might be obvious, but ... there is a large department store that has a very nice view from the top floor, and it is very

Yes, I agree with Parc Monceau. There are several other parks also designed in the so-called English style by Alphand and they're all worthwhile. Parc des Buttes Chaumont, and the Parc Montsouris in particular. Square des Batignolles is nice, but small, and some of the surrounding streets are

Hi Daniel - try the Parc Monceau, entering from the gates opposite the Rue de Prony along Boulevard de Courcelles. It's very pretty, and a more up-market part of Paris: my wife and I explored it together for the first time for both of us in 1995. I always avoided the Bois de Boulogne, too big
