I've been using the latest nightly builds (not currently set up for SVN),
currently running 03/09/08. On both my test site and my main which is using
the latest 2.5, the upgrade fails with the following:

I haven't been seeing any thumbnail images at all in the Manage/Media Library
since the following change was made on March 3rd, 2008:

The classic blue looks a lot better with the new colors but how about trying
that light yellow color for the Right Now bar instead of that
orange/red(?) color.
I think it would blend in a lot better with the classic and light blue look

Strange that you're getting that. I loaded up 2.7 r8780 into my local
sandbox (XAMPP for Windows, PHP 5.2.6) this morning with no problems
although I have no plugins installed or activated. I have tried several
different themes with it though with no problems. Haven't done any
online testing

that I understand everything you've done so far, it sounds like the one
of the main directories that WordPress is installed into may have become
write protected. Why this would happen could be many reasons/quirks or
