After upgrading Ubuntu 15.10 to Ubuntu 16.04, I can no longer connect using x2go. Trying to use either mate or kde, it appears to try to start and then aborts and goes back to the login prompt. I upgraded x2go server and all x2go software to the most recent on the server side, no help.

I've got x2go on a number of Ubuntu 15.10 servers and no problem with them. I recently installed a new server with Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS and there is a nasty problem with it. On the client side, I select Display 1, on the 15.10 servers this fives me a full screen like the Full Screen

sshfs works both ways, you can mount directories from your server on your local machine or vise versa and that can be installed with ssh without x2go. It is a very convenient feature, a lot easier than screwing with nfs or samba if just for a single user.

I applied all the upgrades, and downgraded mesa-libGL and everything worked. Added the following to /etc/dnf/dnf.conf: exclude=mesa-libGL To prevent it from being upgraded until such time as that issue is resolved.

I am using 16.04.1 LTS and do not have this problem. If you are just on 16.04 and not 16.04.1, I would suggest upgrading. I had a lot of problems with 16.04 as well. I think it was released a little ahead of being ready for primetime.

It may be an issue with what shell they were using. I know when I was running MacOS (I've since loaded Ubuntu on my Mac) that it had problems if I used any non-bourne derived shell such as tcsh. But ksh, sh, bash, and dash were all fine.

I have the nightly builds not the stable but I can confirm that it works with KDE5/Plasma on Debian as I just tried it reading this. At first I got black screen and I thought nope same old same old, but it was just KDE is much slower to start than Mate. Once it did start it worked fine.
