< Hi Mira :) < < I never did it, but I found a howto, maybe this will help you. Note: The < howto isn't for 64 Studio 2.1 and it doesn't use GRUB ;). < http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/CompilingTips < < I'm running my unstable DAW with a vanilla install of 64 Studio 2.1 < 64-bit, but with a second kernel. < < The default kernel is: < < linux-image-2.6.21-1-multimedia-amd64 < < I compiled: < < linux-image-2.6.24.7-rt17-rev01 < < And there are only ALSA modules for the default kernel: < < alsa-modules-2.6.21-1-multimedia-amd64 1.0.17 < < 'Please note that ALSA driver modules are included in < kernel-image packages of version 2.6 or higher. Therefore, < you do not need to install an alsa-modules package if you < are running a 2.6 kernel. You may still want to install an < alsa-modules package for a 2.6 kernel because the drivers < in alsa-modules packages are usually more current than < those in kernel-image packages.' < < How can I find out which version of ALSA modules is in the kernel image < package for my 2.6.24.7-rt17 included? < < Because of the troubles with Rosegarden and MusE I should know this and < perhaps compile ALSA modules too. < < Cheers, < Ralf
Hi Ralf, -after experience I've got in last days I have to say 64tudio default kernel is good one, but on the other hand I learned quite a lot by trying new things. -yes you are right alsa modules are included in new kernels, but version 1.0.15 which is good, but there is a bug for my card RME Digiface. http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=fmv935%24cls%241%40ger.gmane.org and there is another bug for compiling 1.0.17 alsa modules with new kernel http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=501417 This makes me wonder how 64studio's developers got 1.0.17(current stable) alsa in default 2.6.21 kernel .... hats off -you can get info about your alsa like this: #cat /proc/asound/version -I really can only recommend to stay with default kernel for now it is really good one. Cheers mira _______________________________________________ 64studio-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.64studio.com/mailman/listinfo/64studio-users
