Maybe there is frequency scaling activated on 64Studio when using a
laptop. I use a desktop-computer which is able to use frequency scaling
- but it is certainly not activated by default. (If I'd install Ubuntu
8.04 I'm sure it would!) It always runs on the fastest frequency.

But maybe we misunderstand each others when using the word "idle". A CPU
can also be idle when running at full speed. The "ondemand"
scaling-governor is able to reduce the frequency of an idling CPU, but
first frequency-scaling must be activated.

Of course, I can't tell anything about your installation of 64studio on
your laptop. But speaking about my desktop I'm sure, that frequency
scaling is not activated by default. (In fact it was never activated by
default since I use 64studio from version 1.0 till 3.0.)

Greetings!
And good night - I'm going to bed!
