Hi people,

First, I ask for U.L. (United Linux) observer status as I don't use
64studio, & to me, that limits my right to interfere here a bit. I've
followed this list for a year & 1/2 or so, after I'd assembled a new
box for audio & was hot to check out 64studio.

But 64studio, & other Debian-based install discs I tried, failed to
see the system drive to install to - Western Digital Caviar SE16
WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA, btw - so, I gave up. I
think this is my 1st post to this list, maybe not. Hey, I'm lazy. I
never even took the effort to unsubscribe.

The preceding stuff is only to indicate that I seem the opposite of
Ralf. As a list member, who would you prefer on the list, me or Ralf?
Who would the developers prefer if their goal is to improve the
distro? This isn't pointed at anyone, but I've never quite understood
the backlash to Ralf's posts. Or I do & the backlash resembles
personality clashes, different methods of working & posting, &
variance in what entails a legitimate problem.

Ralf is one reason I'm still subscribe to this list. To someone with
more Linux experience (or less), perhaps Ralf's psots seem like
irrelevant or harmful chatter. For me, many of his descriptions of
tweaks, experimentation, & attempts to work through problems are
valuable fodder for thinking about why I might want to customize
something, what issues I might encounter, ways of working toward a
solution, or asking myself would it be worth the bother, etc. I tend
to skim his posts because I'm sometimes overwhelmed by the details,
limited by time, & not being on a Debian-based system, often it's more
the general audio/Linux incite I read for anyway.

All I'm saying is, for this list, Ralf seems worth a 1,000 people like
me. No wait... Did I say that? OK, maybe there's space for everyone.

                                              -s

p.s. OT Dave, this wasn't really a response to your post here, only
stealing the chance to comment on 3 blues #'s from your recent LAU
post . Your vocal's shine. Seems you were channeling an early BB King
live set that night. Sweet bass, & the whole trio sounded pretty
dynamo!
