or even more often.

Yep Jim:

Getting settup right means doing a bit of work right off but getting
it right.

One senario is to First create partitions, one for backup, one for data,
and one for the OS. Then wipe out, un_install all the programs on your
PC. Uninstall un-used Windows components, get rid of your restore,
temp, history and recycle files. Make sure you keep your OEM drivers
and make all you settings. That gets the contents down to where
you can make a Bootable image of the OS on one CD.

This small bootable OS image Will get you running in about 5/8 minutes.
an you can access your data and your backup drive. Then run your OEM
recovery again and Setup, delete or add and build your "C" drive to your
specifications. After that clone your "C" drive to your backup partition.

Whenever needed as long as you can reboot just run your backup
image partition to get a fresh install. In an emergency you can Boot
with your bootable OS CD to access your PC, and then run your Image
partition to get a fresh Re-install of everything.

This way you can put your OEM recovery set away.

Another senario is to clean your OS drive as nabove. Then create
a program and a data partition. Install all your programs into the
programs partition. This will install DLLs and registry changes to
your OS partition. Once all your programs are in place on the
programs partition you should make a Boottable recovery CD Image
of your OS partition. This will give you a fresh install of the OS,
Settings, drivers, registry and DLLs in about 6/8 minutes and you
never need to worry about the programs as they will be safe on
the program partition.

A third senario is to build up your OS drive with everything you want
to your specifications Then make an all inclusive Bootable recovery
CD or DVD SET. This may take several CDs or maybe one DVD But
then you can throw away your OEM recovery set.
