Yup.  Did that. And since I am only online when using that computer, 
I cannot verify that it is slow when not online.  But I will check on 
that after work today.  I took all my "regular" programs off that 
computer, hoping somehow that would help so I will have to reinstall 
something and check that.

My connection speed is 31-41 kbs and that IS all I am going to get 
here.  With the older computer, it was worse!

I forgot to mention that this is an external modem.  And the first 
one was faulty and this is a second one.

At this point, can malware or worms be ruled out?
