Ok, same problem, different scenario.
I purchased an internal modem today that is supposed to be compatible
with XP. In fact, XP will recognize it without software (truly plug
and play). So I install the modem and fire up the computer. The Dell
splash screen comes up and hangs up 1/2 on the little progress bar.
It does this a couple of times. Hubby goes up and unplugs it from the
wall, plugged it back in and turns it on. Now we get an error
message "Alert!! Previous attempts at booting this systemhave failed
at checkpoint [Emem]. For help in resolving this problem, please
note this checkpoint and contact Dell Technical Support."

Any ideas what I did wrong?

Louise
