Actually one of my computers was operating with XP on 128 Meg of ram. I WAS
running slowly but amazingly well for having only that much ram. The
computer was being used by my daughter and clearing out the startup junk
didn't help any, I thought maybe the clock was really slow. I gave her my
oldest computer and took hers to 'play with'. I replaced the 128 Meg stick
with a 512 M stick that I borrowed from another computer and now it works
fine. Strangely enough, it was a Linux distro that did not work at all with
only 128 Meg of ram. I downloaded and tried UBUNTU, a great Linux version,
but even the live version did not work. But after I upgraded the ram it
worked fine.

BTW ubuntu is great because it is both a live versin, i.e. it will run from
the CD and will install if you choose. I have nearly alwasy had problems
with Linux working with my wheel mice, ubuntu nad no problem. And it is easy
to configure. In one way it is like all other Linux distros, when I switch
my KVM to another machine and come back the mouse goes crazy, like it had
rabies. [I bottowed that description from someone on these Yahoo groups.]
With the other Liuxes I could click on the desktop a few times and the mouse
would settle down, not this version.
