That's how it should work, but my experiences, partly inferred, is that 
virtual memory is often used when there is plenty of ram. I first came to 
this conclusion when I got a computer with 1 G or ram. I looked at one of 
those analyze programs that told hou much ram was in use vs the amount of 
virtual memory. I found that virtual, and thus slower, memry was being used 
in large quantities and real ram only a small percent of the total ram.

I don't know, I have played a little with the virtual memory settings, I 
guess I need to do that some more. I would rather that someone who has 
researched the issue would come forewared with some information, at least 
before I try dknking with virtual memory. It's easy to ASS U ME things about 
how a computer should work and it is often difficult to determine whether 
those assumptions are valid.
