The comment about XP using the pagefiles even when there is plenty of ram
goes with my experience. So I have said the XP does not manage memory very
well. It seems to me not good management to use slow memory, i.e. pagefile,
instead of fast ram. I have not heard anyone use this as one of the reasons
to go to Linux, however. The most often stated reasons that I recall are:
Security, MS anti piracy policies, and 'because Linux is open source'. The
last one has never been something I cared about. I used to say, 'Great, an
os created by comittee.'
