Jim There is some correlation between the level that you can set virtual memory at, and the amount of RAM you have installed. Most people recommend that you set Virtual Memory at 2 or 3 times the amount of RAM you have installed. A lot of people, even self appointed experts, mistakenly say that Windows uses primary memory first, but my personal experience has shown that a mix of memory is used. The level you want to achieve is where you seldom, or never, get the warning message that virtual memory is low and windows will increase (or whatever) the amount of virtual memory. This really slows down your PC. You can be sitting there with 500mb of RAM unused it makes no difference. Read my next post the subject may be a better use of your RAM.
