Hi:  
 
With the Laptop it should be perfectly ok to have it running as the  hose
will not actually be into the parts and the running fan will help,   but with
a desktop you would need to be very careful not to bump any parts and
you should have  one hand on the computer at all times because of  possible
static electricity.  The desktop power supply could benefit if the fan  was
running and enough care is taken.
