First off let's talk about how one can fail to get any viruses. A. the AV program being used fails every time. B. the computer is set up in such a way that viruses just don't get in so that the AV program sees none. C. Similar to B. no viruses are sent to the machine. I seriously doubt that any AV program is so bad that it would not catch ANY virus. I have used AVG most of the time and it seems to be one of the most popular free AV programs. Now if my AV program was just a failure and viruses were attacking but not being stopped, then I would assume that there would be some sign of having been attacked. But I have never had any sign of virus attack. AND even if I had been attacked, I do use my Norton Ghost to re-clone my C partition back to the C partition every few months. Don't ask me why, I just do it. So if I have ever been attacked un-knowingly, the harm done, if any, gets repaired when I reverse clone C:.
