I think getting a virus or not depends on who you are browsing with.   I 
browse with AOL and never get a virus.  Maybe a lot of stuff is cleaned  by the 
server.  I,m not sure I ever got a virus from the Internet.   Not in recent 
years anyway.  Spam I never get either. 
 
I'm just saying a lot of problems blamed on viruses are not really viruses  
and  all the scans in the world won't correct a missing file or  corrupt file.
