I hope you mean that you uninstalled them, never just delete a  
program. I'm guessing that you know that.
The only time a program can cause a memory problem is when it is  
running. If a program IS a memory hog
don't run it along with others unless you absolutely need it then.  
Then you will just have to suck it up. :-)

I have never trusted programs that claim to fix the registry. I used  
to manually edit it, but I have not done anything with it in ages. And  
I don't think that I have had any problems.

So did you find any. My understanding is that few malware checkers are  
much good at getting rid of malware after the fact. If it can't block  
it, it will probably get in. I have never had any Virus or other  
malware that I can tell. That may be another advantage of revers  
cloning my computer every few months. I clone the C partition clone  
back from where it lives to C, and it wipes C and places the clone in  
it's place. I create the clone disconnected from the internet so  
there's absolutely no chance of malware getting to it.
