I think the problem is likely with Win7 - not your printer. Maybe your print queue clogged with undone jobs? That happens a lot and would explain why your print job starts automatically after a reboot. You can try clearing the print queue by following these instructions: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/4078/windows-7-how-to-clear-the-print-queue/
Hopefully that'll fix it. If not, I would try totally uninstalling the printer and reinstalling it from scratch after a reboot. Go into Start, Control Panel, Hardware & Sound, Devices and Printers. Find the printer, right-click it and choose to remove it. Then, go back to Control Panel, Software, Programs and click the icon to uninstall programs. Find what ever programs came with the printer (they'll likely have HP in the name) and uninstall them. It's important to uninstall this program because it contains the printer drivers. Then reboot, and install the printer as you did the first time. Be sure to follow HP's installation instructions, which usually tell you exactly when to plug in the printer's USB connection. It's a bit of trouble, but I think that should fix it.
