AN URGENT CLARIFICATION:

Friends,

Before all of you go into a collective frenzy, please read my statement below.

The issue of an Ordinance was brought up by Lok Sansad vis a vis their remaing
Bills. In their speech before Shri Rahul Gandhi, they made this demand. Somehow
the Disability Rights Bill got mixed up there.

My own view was and is that the concept of an Ordinance is not a very good idea
in a democracy. It is certainly not a preferred option.

However, if MSJE initiates a process and if the UPA Government decides to bring
an Ordinance, especially to placate the groups of neglected, marginalised
disabilities and the deaf people who are in an urgent need to enjoy their
rights, then I for one will not oppose it either.

So, the sum total is as follows: One, bringing an Ordinance is not my idea or
that of DRG. Two, as of now, I am neither for it nor against it. Three, for
sure, we (DRG) are not going to agitate for it.

With good wishes,

Javed Abidi

Subject: Re: [AI] Protest against promised ordinance to clear RPD Bill at
 AICC Office today

These days the government decisions are based on the inclination of Mr.
Rahul Gandhi towards any issue. Whether its about increasing the number of
attempts in UPSC, One Rank one pension thing or scrapping of the amendment
in RPA. Mr. Javed Abidi has also resorted to Rahul Gandhi now for an
ordinance route.
I think a protest at Rahul Gandhi's house and a meeting with him will do
good to the cause.

Thanks,
Vishal
