Hi,
To use phonetic keyboard for typing Marathi I installed Google input tool
which is working fine. But, I'm facing a problem of selecting a proper word
in Marathi options after typing a phonetic English word for it. The
pronunciation of most words are similar which is a main problem for me.

For example:

To typing my name 'Mukesh'

After typing a spelling 'Mukesh'

I'm getting following options:

मुकेश
मूकेश
मुकेष
मूकेष
मुकेस
मूकेस

The first one is correct but how can I choose a correct word because the
pronunciation of both options is similar?

Thanking you,

Regards,

Subject: Re: [AI] Tamil Unicode Typewriter Keyboard Layout

hi,
Your wish only to use traditionally designed typewriter layout is not
appropriate to your physical condition. However, if you desire so, I
just suggest you to understand the following reality. Just understand,
what action to take is your decision.
1. Typewriter layout were designed for typewriter, a different machine
at that time when no one has listen the word 'Computer'. At the
beginning of the computer use in this region; to please those person
who were familiar, to typewriter and make them to switch computer,
the typewriter layout was introduced in computer system which was
basically a wrong approach. It means what you were taught was a
outcome of the idea of making please of old typists in passed decades.
If the leading personality of computer
technology introducing at the beginning may not have tried to please
handful typists of that time, today millions people who use computer
in their daily life would not b in problem as you are facing today.
What you learn is
inappropriate.
2. Phonetic layout suits for those person who frequently use English
and local language.
3. Traditional layout does not suit for screen reader users. But,
finally if you still prefer traditional layout, just adopt the
Microsoft made Tamil layout. it has many benefits.
a. It is already available in your computer and will always be in
future too. It is not necessary to download and install from outside.
b. This layout will be available in any computer having windows
operating system installed. It means you can type Tamil in any
computer of the world. If you use a particular layout, you may not be
able to type in that computer in which your layout is not installed.
4. However, what ever layout to use, for a visually impaired person;
the layout which has the following characteristics is appropriate to
screen reader user.
a. It must not type more than one character on single key press (no
macro!).
b. It should not have an option in which more than one key press is
needed to generate one character (multi key press type single
letter!).
c. It should not have assigned control or alt keys for typing purposes
(No use of modifie for typingr!).
That's the key point to understand.

All,

Anybody can guide me to get Tamil Unicode Typewriter Keyboard Layout for
typing Tamil.

Here in Tamil Nadu, There are few e mail groups, in which all the
visually
challenged people are writing mails in Tamil. Among them, few are using
NHM

writer keyboard, Indic keyboard and other keyboards.

Since I have finished Tamil typewriting both lower and higher when I was
having good sight, I am not interested to use these phoenetic keyboards.
I

dont want to learn some other keyboard layouts. Because if I practice
some

other keyboard layout and I use it regularly, I can forget my typewriting
keyboard layout. Moreover, I have very good speed in typewriter layout.

In NHM writer by pressing f5 we can go to typewriter keyboard layout.
But
the problem is while we type the Tamil, it doesnt says anything. But
after

when we make it to readout it reads. While typing it doesnt says
anything.

So, I am unable to use this NHM writer.

I used both JAWS and NVDA.

If anybody using typewriter keyboard layouts for their regional
languages,
can also guide me. I may try to use Tamil typewriter keyboard layout in
the

same option if it is available.

Could anybody can guide me in this issue.

Thanks in advance.
